 Indiana Softball will travel to Durham, N.C. for the second straight season to face off against Duke and Syracuse in the 2020 Big Ten/ACC Challenge. The Hoosiers will play a pair of games against both the Blue Devils and the Orange during the weekend of Feb. 14-16. Last year, Indiana swept the Challenge, going 4-0 against the same competition.
 
It marks the third straight year Indiana has competed in the annual event, which will see five ACC teams host while two schools from each conference will also compete at the ESPN St. Pete/Clearwater Elite Invitational.
 
The Hoosiers are coming off a 2019 campaign in which they posted the most victories since 2011, as well as the best non-conference mark since 1986. Indiana spent six straight weeks in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll, reaching as high as No. 16 after starting the season a program-record 14-0.
 
The full schedule for the Big Ten/ACC Challenge is below. Game times will be finalized at a later date.

 Indiana Softball has announced the addition of Hannah Davis, a utility/infielder who spent her freshman year at the University of Kentucky. Davis will be eligible to play immediately for Indiana.
 
"Hannah was originally committed to us at our previous institution so we are extremely familiar with her and her family," said head coach Shonda Stanton. "We are excited to have this second opportunity to coach her. She is a talented ball player who will have an immediate impact as a utility infielder with the ability to provide an offensive spark to our lineup. We are excited for Hannah to be a Hoosier!"
 
Davis, a native of Georgetown, Ky., attended Scott County High School, where she led the team to three state championships and was a four-time All-Region, All-District and team Offensive MVP selection. One of those state titles came in a senior campaign that saw Davis bat .600 with 71 hits, 75 RBI and 13 home runs. For her efforts, Davis was also named a Premier Girls Fastpitch High School All-American and First Team All-State.
 
The left-handed batter played her travelball for the Louisville Sluggers and is planning to major in Communications at Indiana.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. ­– Indiana Softball has announced the addition of graduate student manager Michaela Schlattman to its staff. Schlattman comes to Indiana after graduating from LSU in May 2019.
 
"I am beyond excited for the opportunity that Coach Stanton and the staff has given me to be a part of such a great softball program and university," said Schlattman. "I am thankful I get to learn from such an amazing coaching staff, which will help with my future goals in coaching and teaching. I am ready to get on campus and start working with the team."
 
As the Tigers' starting catcher, Schlattman played in 56 games and collected 39 hits, 24 runs and 23 RBI during her senior season as LSU advanced to Super Regionals for the second straight year. Off the field, she was a member of the 2019 SEC Community Team and the 2018 SEC First Year Academic Roll.
 
Schlattman transferred to LSU prior to her junior season after spending two years at shortstop at Miami (Ohio). There, Schlattman earned 2017 Third Team NFCA All-Region honors, First Team All-MAC and to the MAC All-Tournament Team after leading the RedHawks to a MAC Tournament title.
 
"I appreciate the graduate manager position because it provides opportunities for high achieving student-athletes to stay in the game and give back to current student-athletes," said Indiana head coach Shonda Stanton. "Michaela had a high-level success at LSU and we are excited for the daily positive collisions that she will have with our players. She is a great fit with her enthusiasm, self-discipline and love for the sport to serve as an outstanding role model and to help us continue to elevate our program."
 
A native of Plainfield, Ill., Schlattman will be getting her Master's in Secondary Education while at Indiana.

Indiana Softball announced its signing class this week, as four high school seniors, all from the state of Indiana, signed their National Letters of Intent to join the program.
 
"When my staff and I were hired at Indiana, we set out to recruit the state and region hard and keep the best and the brightest home." Said head coach Shonda Stanton. "We are excited to announce all four signees are Hoosiers and have the opportunity to help enhance IU Softball's visibility on the national level.   They are all competitors and accomplished students with strong character who are proud to wear the cream and crimson. We also appreciate the strong support they receive from their families and travel ball organizations. This special group will make an immediate impact."
 
Aaliyah Andrews 
OF | Fort Wayne, Ind. | Leo High School

 
Andrews will join the team upon graduating from Leo High School in May. She posted a .481 batting average in 2019 while helping the team to the state championship game where they were runners-up. Andrews collected a batting average of .577 her sophomore year and was part of the team that reached semi-state in 2018. She raked in first team all-state in 2018 and second team in 2019. Andrews plays travel ball for the Indiana Gators '02 where they were crowned winners of the Top Gun Showcase, Eastern Elite and placed fourth at the Myrtle Beach Nationals.
 
Off the field, Andrews was part of the National Honor Society in 2018 and 2019 and garnered High Honor Roll from 2017 to 2019.
 
The daughter of Kelly Andrews and Devlon Patterson, she has one sister, Maddie.

 "Aaliyah is an athletic outfielder with a unique speed and power combo potential.   She fits really well into our system and strengthens our current solid outfield corp.  She will be a dynamic player for us and it will be exciting to coach her skill set and watch her grow as an athlete."
 
Brooke Benson 
SS/2B | Fishers, Ind. | Fishers

 
Brooke Benson will come to Indiana from Fishers High School where she currently holds single-season records for runs scored, home runs, RBI, lowest strikeout percentage, slugging percentage (1.060) and batting average (.542). She led the team to its first regional title in school history in 2019. Benson was named the Player of the Year for Hamilton County in 2019. She is a two-time All-Conference and All-County selection while being named to the All-State team in 2019. Scout Softball named her the No. 1 shortstop in the nation two times, in 2018 and 2019. Playing for Indiana Magic Gold-Rudd, she helped the team to third place at the PGF Nationals. Benson also led her previous team, Shockwaves-Perry, to a national championship.
 
The daughter of David and Sarah Benson, she has one sister, Morgan. Her parents are graduates of Indiana University.

 "Brooke is one of the truest utility players we have seen.  We will look to play her up the middle and she gives us depth on the corner and outfield.  She has great hands and footwork with smooth transfers and the ability to throw from different slots.  Excited about what she can do with her quickness and pop offensively." 
 
Grace Lorsung 
C/3B | New Palestine, Ind. | Cathedral

 
A native of New Palestine, Ind., Lorsung led her team to a regional title in 2019 after posting a batting average of .616 her junior year. Lorsung was tabbed for the 2019 Johnny Bench Catching Award for the state of Indiana and was an IndyStar Softball Super Team member in 2019. IndyStar also named her as an honorable mention in 2018. She is a three-time member of the All-City and has been named the Team MVP three times during her high school career. During the 2018 and 2019 seasons, she picked up All-USA honors. Also playing for the Indiana Magic Gold-Rudd and was ranked 76th in 2017 and 83rd in 2019 by FloSoftball. As a team, she helped them to third place at the PGF National Huntington Beach, Calif. in 2017 and 2019.
 
The daughter of Matt and Shannon Lorsung, she and has one sister, Adie.
 
Her father played football at the University of Indianapolis while her sister played softball at IUPUI.

"Grace is a stud behind the plate with a tremendously strong arm. She has the athleticism to play third base as well and will be a force in the heart of the line-up. Her leadership qualities make her a natural as a field general and she will build a great rapport with our pitching staff."
 
Macy Montgomery 
P | Decatur, Ind. | Bellmont

 
A right-handed pitcher from Decatur, Ind., Montgomery holds school records in strikeouts (655), shutouts (29), wins (48) and ERA (.44). She led the team to an undefeated regular season (20-0) before earning a conference and sectional championship in 2019. Montgomery is a three-time All-County and All-Conference selection. She has also been named to the 2017 and 2018 All-State Second Team, and 2019 All-State First Team. She also plays travel ball for Indiana Magic Gold-Rudd where they finished in third at PGF Nationals in 2019. At the same tournament she was named to the 16u All-Tournament Team and came in at No. 69 on FloSoftball's Hot 100 ranking.
 
A daughter of Chad and Candace Montgomery, and has a sister named Madelene and a brother named Meric.

 "Macy flat out gets after it on the mound.  She brings a tenacious attitude and exudes confidence from the circle, at the plate, and on the basepath. She can keep hitters off balance and gets hitters to swing and miss. Macy is a fiery player and will raise our level of competitiveness."

The '20 season will be here before we know it as the ladies open on Feb. 6, in Orlando, FL and will play 5 games in the Black and Gold Tournament.  The following weekend they're in Durham, NC for 4 games in the ACC/B1G Challenge

Indiana softball announces 2020 schedule including 16 home games to be played at Andy Mohr Field.
 
Indiana will face 14 opponents who ended the 2019 season inside the top 100 RPI.  They will also play five teams that made NCAA Regionals and two that advanced to the College World Series.
 
"We are just a few months away from opening weekend and we are excited to take the field with team 47." Head Coach Shonda Stanton said.   Our pre-season will challenge us early and often.   The fan support throughout last season and particularly in the Big Ten tournament was awesome.   As our fans return to Andy Mohr Field, they will get to see exciting and high-level softball with the competitive Big Ten and non-conference match-ups we have slated."
 
Last season, the Hoosiers opened the year with a 14-0 mark, the best start in IU program history. Thanks to the hot start, Indiana earned a spot in the USA Today/NFCA Coaches Poll, the first ranking for the team since 1996. IU would spend six straight weeks ranked, picking up wins against two top-10 teams in No. 6 Georgia (Feb. 10) and at No. 10 LSU (March 1), the first time that has been done at Indiana. IU's final record of 36-21 was the best for the Hoosiers since the 2011 season, while the team's non-conference record (26-8) was the best since 1986.
 
Indiana will open the season on Feb. 6 in Orlando, Fla. at the Black and Gold Invitational hosted by the University of Central Florida. On opening day, Indiana will face host UCF who was ranked No. 51 in the final RPI of the 2019 campaign. The Hoosiers will then see action against Duke, St. John's, and Clemson throughout opening weekend.
 
Returning to the Big Ten/ACC Challenge hosted by Duke on Feb. 14-16, Indiana will again play two games versus the Blue Devils and Syracuse. Last season, the Hoosiers swept the Challenge, beating both teams twice.
 
The following weekend, Indiana will return to North Carolina where they will participate the Fairfield Crabtree Invitational hosted by NC State. Indiana is set to play a pair of games against Saint Joseph's and Bucknell, while also clashing with host school NC State.
 
Indiana heads west to Tucson, Ariz. the weekend of March 6 for the Wildcat Invitational.  They will square off against SIUE, South Dakota and Boise State, who ended the season at No. 35 in the RPI, before taking on host Arizona who was a College World Series participant in 2019 and No. 4 in the final RPI of the season.
 
Rounding out tournament play, Indiana travels to Madeira Beach, Fla. on March 12 for the annual Spring Games. While in Madeira Beach, the Hoosiers will face Creighton, NCAA participant Toledo, Central Michigan, Brown, South Dakota State and Buffalo.
 
Play at Andy Mohr field kicks off on Mar. 10 as the Hoosiers play host to Miami (OH) at 4 p.m.
 
Wrapping up the non-conference schedule, Indiana will see three midweek games including NCAA Regional participants in Louisville and Notre Dame. The Cardinals will come to town on March 24 at 5 p.m. before the Hoosiers clash with the Fighting Irish on March 31 beginning at 4 p.m. Both teams were top 50 in RPI, Louisville was No. 38 in while Notre Dame checked in No. 39.  Rounding out the nonconference schedule, Indiana will take on Morehead State on April 22.
 
Indiana opens up Big Ten play against Penn State at home March 20-22. Other conference home weekends include NCAA participants Ohio State (Mar. 27-29) and Minnesota (Apr. 17-19), who advanced to the Women's College World Series, before concluding the 2020 regular season at home vs. Iowa (May 1-3).
 
The Big Ten road slate commences on April 3-5 when the Hoosiers travel to College Park to take on Maryland. Other road games include Nebraska (Apr. 10-12) and Illinois (Apr. 24-26), who made NCAA Regionals last season, prior to the annual doubleheader vs. Purdue on April 29 in West Lafayette.
 
This year's Big Ten Tournament will be hosted by Illinois from May 7-9.
