(2015) SF Ogugua Anunoby to IU

I know every recruit sounds great on the surface but man we are in severe need of bigs. Would love to have a 4 year caliber player with top 100 skill to complement and grow with Morgan.

Obviously I only have the word of others to go off of, but it sounds like we may have found that in Holt. I'm very optimistic in his potential over four years of development.

At 6'7" I doubt he could hang on the blocks for a whole game. We would give up a few inches every night.

Yup, totally fair concern. I'm just trying to appreciate what we have. Recruiting bigs is such a disappointing topic currently.

Absolutely. Appreciative of what we have. I think Holt by all accounts will be a very solid addition. If we could add 6'10" with impact skills we would be damn scary.

I know there are mixed opinions on 247's Crystal Ball, but Jerry Meyer just tagged IU for OG.  Of the voters on 247, he is the one that I believe holds the most water.  Shaping up to be a very interesting visit...

my hope is that relief comes in 2016 with De'Ron Davis

I put the odds of a verbal this weekend at 50/50, minimum.

All valid concerns----the few sources I still have near the program say IU thinks Holt still has a couple of inches to grow----it would help if he gets up to 6'9"!

Then we could list him at 6'11"  with the IU height bounce!

Hanner is slated to be our starter at the 5 and he is only 6' 8"

I don't think Hanner is a 5. Beyond that I doubt Holt has ups anywhere close to Perea.

I don't think he is a traditional 5. But then again I think the modern game has evolved passed the 1 through 5 position game. Plus not too many teams field a traditional lineup or a traditional big man anymore.

Remember Matt Nover? He was 6'8" and played center for IU. He even had to guard Shaquille in the tourney (we won). Nover was not a prototypical center and was not really much better than Hanner except he could stay away from fouls.

It helped that he had Henderson at PF but as a center Nover helped get us to a FF.

We can be good without a stud Center if our shooters and scorers can score.

Dude Shaq went for 36 and 12 in that game. We had a team. They had Shaq. Not sure that's the game I would cite to prove a point where an undersized center could help us win. If Shaq had a team half as good as we had that season we may lose. Plus the games are called way different now vs then. They don't allow you to body up very much and you can't grab at all. That is why someone as athletically gifted as Hanner gets into foul trouble regularly.

Someone help me out with OG. He's got some high major interest, and I see a lot of people talking pretty glowingly about him. I don't know anything about the kid, other than that he's an unranked 3-star. Has he not been seen by scouts? Didn't play AAU? Or is there some other reason he he's been under the radar with Rivals, Scout, 247, etc?

I don't mean to question the kid or our recruitment of him. I just honestly don't know why he's ranked where he is (or isn't) given what else I've read about him, which is admittedly not much.
