A second-round MLB draft selection by the Boston Red Sox in 2014, Sam Travis recently sat down for a one-on-one interview with IUHoosiers.com at Bart Kaufman Field. The 2014 Big Ten Player of the Year, Travis batted .347 as a junior with 12 home runs and a team-high 58 RBI.
Travis, who was back in Bloomington for IU's Alumni Game, was glad to see the Hoosier Nation once again.
"The fans are obviously a huge factor with home field advantage," Travis said. "It's awesome to have them behind our backs, the tradition and the culture that's being built here. I definitely believe it's going to continue to grow and become stronger."
Sixth all-time at IU in career doubles (55) and ninth in career hits (236), Travis started his career with the Lowell Spinners before being promoted to the Greenville Drive, Boston's Class A affiliate.
