(2014) SF Josh Cunningham to Bradley

Recommended Posts

As for Cunningham, evidently he wants to be a perimeter player. South Carolina can offer him that.

If this is factual could you please provide proof?

I can confirm this based on the same premium info. He wants to play on the perimeter in college and has little to no interest in playing the 4.

Is it definitive that the IU coaching staff want him to mainly play as a 4?

No. The IU staff likely just wants him to play basketball.

See Watford, Christian. Guarded Trey Burke and LewJack at times. Shot lots of threes. Rebounded.

Yep. The only "position" we have been using is Yogi at the point. Other than that maybe a center, but no one else has a set position really.

South Carolina needs as much help on the post as we do, but Cunningham is a wing player so why recruit him as a 4? I certainly hope we aren't because at 6'6" there is no way he could help us there. He is a Cheaney type slasher wing with a good handle and shot. If we are recruting him as a 4, I really question what our staff is thinking. He would get killed by the B1G post players. He looks to be a nice player though.

Even then we saw our center playing out on the perimeter this past season. Which is why us wanting him to play an undersized 4 is getting overblown, since he would still get a lot of playing time on the perimeter.

Yeah we run mostly 4-1 stuff. I can't remember seeing us with 2 guys in the post in the same set. Maybe Watford in the high post with Cody down low, but that's it. It really isn't a big deal like you said.

I don't think he would be used exclusively as a 4, but I think he falls more into the Christian Watford role. That's what I think he is a bit wary of.

Watford played primarily on the wing later in his career, but at first he played a lot of 4. We will see. Obviously if Crean really wants him, he will put his best foot forward but I doubt he will straight up lie to the kid and tell him he won't ever play the post.

When is his visit to South Carolina?

And what general time frame can we expect an announcement? Any ideas?

His visit is April 12 (via 247). His announcement is supposed to be next week. It was scheduled for today, so probably a full week pushed back. Look for it to be mid-week next week.

Frank Martin is as close to Bobby Knight as anyone coaching now and got suspended for screaming the f word at one of his players during a timeout. That being said, his players love him and he has strong support instate from the high school coaches. He is a good recruiter so I wouldn't get my Hoosier hopes up. Better keep after the missing Link.

You're correct on this weekend visit. April 18th decision per coach.

I feel like he is already set on the college he wants to go to if he already has a date for an announcement. I think he is visiting SC to just make sure he has turned over every stone. But, hey what do I know.
