D.J. White Retiring from Basketball

Charlotte Bobcats President of Basketball Operations Rod Higgins announced today that the team has signed forward DJ White to a 10-day contract. White will wear No. 8. The Bobcats roster stands at 15 players.

 

The 6-9 White is in his sixth NBA season and has career averages of 6.0 points and 3.2 rebounds in 132 games played with the Thunder, Bobcats and Celtics. For his career, White has shot .507 from the field (348-686) and .720 from the free-throw line (113-157).

 

White previously played a season and a half for the Bobcats after joining the team via trade on Feb. 24, 2011. He saw action in 82 games, averaging 7.3 points on .504 shooting (255-507) and 3.8 rebounds in 19.1 minutes. White becomes the third player in franchise history to return for a second stint with the Bobcats.

 

White was originally selected with the 29th overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft after a four-year career at Indiana University, where he earned Big Ten Player of the Year, First Team All-Big Ten and Second Team All-America honors as a senior. He played in 99 career games for the Hoosiers, averaging 14.6 points and 7.6 rebounds in 30.6 minutes per game.

 

White most recently played for the Sichuan Blue Whales of the Chinese Basketball Association. In 27 games this season, he averaged 20.2 points and 8.5 rebounds in 31.9 minutes, while shooting .672 (219-326) from the field and .733 from the free-throw line (96-131). He scored in double figures 25 times, including 17 games of 20 points or more, and posted eight double-doubles.

Man I sure wish we could get another guy like DJ White at IU again! Don't get me wrong I liked Zeller and they play differently but I personally liked DJ better
