That whole 2017 AAU team with Scruggs, Wilkes, Gunn, etc are players we need to get. They are THE top AAU team in the nation in their age division. They have offered like 5 kids on the squad and had a few others on unofficial visits

I think 2017 could be a big recruiting year for us. These kids seem to be high on the program. I think we should start to see more of that as kids are growing up having seen what a successful* IU program (2012 & 2013) looks like.

It's always intriguing to think about what actually draws recruits, if its success of the program, the coach, the fans, etc. Makes me think back to the end of the Knight era/ Mike Davis era and even Sampson. Players like Mike Conely and Eric Gordon wanted absolutely NOTHING to do with Davis. And then hearing stories about how davis wasn't interested in Conely. Also I live around where Dominic James played high school ball. He really wanted to play for IU but Davis didn't recruit him because he thought he was too small. The Conely story was interesting because if Davis would've been more active with him , we would've had Oden and Conely because Oden wanted to go to IU but wanted to play wherever Conely wanted to. There were a lot of great players in Indiana from the Davis era that simply didn't want to play for him, even though initially Davis had good success

I don't blame them, I wouldn't want to play a pick up game for Davis.  His success here came with Bob Knight's team.

Be on the lookout for Scruggs AAU or former AAU teammate Jalen Adaway in 2017 as well. Not really on anyone's radar yet but had an UV last year during the Illinois game.

Saw a rating service the other day that had Scruggs, Gunn, and Wilkes all top 25 for 2017. Now that is a special class. Wish/hope several of those 17s choose to play together at IU.

That quote right in the middle is me on ITH. Haha. My dad actually just a had a convo with the kid from my  hometown high school. His name is Jalen Adeway, and he was on an unofficial visit at HH with Scruggs and Gunn. Adeway talked about how much he likes IU and how great of a coach he thinks Crean is. That plus other quotes from Scruggs, Gunn, and Wilkes and I think we are in good shape initially with these guys. I think Scruggs is interested in UK  but I don't know for sure. It's interesting that most college coaches are recruiting these kids from this Indy Hoosiers AAU team together. They all hold the same interests and about the same offers. I know all four kids I mentioned have been contacted by Kansas amongst other schools
