Hate to lose Sunseri but if other major schools don't target your assistants then you've got the wrong assistants on the payroll.

Yep, this was expected after the season IU just had. Even with others signing new contracts, I'd be surprised if he's the only one targeted.

CCC obviously knows how to identify and hire good assistant coaches so I'm confident we'll get a good replacement.

As IU coach talks about Blueprint….9 assistants and strength coach already signed multi year contracts to remain at IU.  That’s strong stability and commitment from all led by the coach.
Keeping the main OC and replacing just this position is really stable.  How many more assistants that may have new opportunities might be in question but there is a solid J.M. pipeline along with I am sure other network connections.

As far as IU's matchup in the first round, I think there are 4 likely teams: Penn State, Ohio State, Texas, and possibly Georgia. Really only the Big Ten and SEC champ games have an outcome on this. Order is from most likely to least likely based on vegas odds.

Oregon and Texas win (IU at Penn State): I think it goes 5) ND, 6) OSU, 7) Penn State, 8) Georgia, 9) Tennessee, 10) IU

Oregon and Georgia win (IU at Ohio State): 5) ND, 6) Texas, 7) OSU, 8) Penn State, 9) Tennessee, 10) IU

Penn State and Texas win (IU at Ohio State..maybe Georgia): 5) Oregon, 6) ND, 7) OSU, 8) Georgia, 9) Tennessee, 10) IU

Penn State and Georgia win (IU at Texas) 5) Oregon, 6) ND, 7) Texas, 8) OSU, 9) Tennssee, 10) IU

I think this Indiana team can go into Penn State and win. Unless it's a Friday night game I don't see it being in primetime...just better matchups they'll put in that slot.

I'd like another crack at Ohio State. I wonder how that team will respond after losing to Michigan. There is a part of that fan base that wants them to lose first round so they can fire Ryan Day.

I don't want any part of Georgia or Texas...Not sure why, just see us losing to them on the road.

I think going to ND is a real possibility. I also think going to Columbus is the other real possibility. I don't see Texas dropping that much.

Agree. Even if Texas loses they most likely will not drop to 7 seed. 6 at the lowest IMO

This is why I will be rooting for UGA in the SEC championship. I doubt we will see Texas anyway, and Georgia's lines could give us problems.

Looks like Tino is heading to UCLA to be their OC. :(

1) Thought we'd lose Shanahan before Sunseri due to play calling experience

2) Bummer for us but happy for Tino

3) Not 100% convinced Bienemy was the problem at UCLA but I am also of the belief Bienemy is not a good OC

Successful coordinators become head coaches.

Successful assistants become coordinators.

It's a 'happy problem' that IUFB will hopefully be presented with on a regular basis in the future.

Successful programs also attract promising and successful coordinators….

Coach Cignetti will find his gem of a qb coach, just you wait.

Funny enough, they’re already spinning this as Bienemy was always planning on taking a year off from the NFL and instead of sitting at home for a year, came to help his buddy Deshaun. He didn’t get fired (though he has 2 years left on his contract), this was always the plan!

Completely agree. I liked Bill Mallory a lot as our football coach, but Cignetti has my full support and confidence. If someone offered me a bet this time last year that IU would win 11 games, I would have bet everything I have that we wouldn't. And felt like I was going to win a lot of money. This teams success is hard to wrap my head around. Never thought I would see anything like this in my lifetime.

I think we all know who the obvious choice is to replace Coach Tino, and luckily this candidate was just made available by his previous employer...

Just saw this article.  Great breakdown of who can/can’t return next season.  A lot more people have eligibility than I was expecting.

@Hovadipo I'm not happy to be right :(
