One other thing to remember is Dusty's first coaching job was Bloomington Red AAU. Bloomington Red turned into Indiana Red, then into Indiana Elite. Indiana Elite is run by Mark Adams, Criss Byers, Mike Fox, who are all former IU basketball managers. Not that it means much but there are connections there.

Jordy Hulls and Indiana Elite were a force. Holy poop.

Indiana elite has been a force since the early 90's. Bloomington Red my years were led by Neil Reid and a bunch of other D1 guys. They lost in the Vegas AAU championship to Charles O'bannan and Ray Allen. Cody played for them, any good players from Indiana play for Elite.

Brother lol I know... Jordy, DJ Byrd, Colt Ryan, Stephan Van Trese, and Bobby Capobianco would kick the **** out of my AAU team.

Sometimes Ray McCallum and DeShaun Thomas would play up with them. Absolutely unfair.

Let me see if the waybackmachine works to dig up all his old tweets on his Twitter account. He scrubbed every mention of it after he proved to be dead wrong. It is all he tweeted about for weeks and now it is gone. Easy to make that bet.

But waybackmachine sometimes works.

Alright buddy...

The exact quote I got from a family member of May's is that he "Would walk from Florida to Bloomington for the IU job"

Then make it happen! Data aside, @Ngw7183, on any team/company/unit you're with - You'll be best prepared with the leader who loves and will do anything for that of which he's leading. That intrinsic motivation more times than not yields better results than a guy such as Archie - who was very limited in his affinity for IU basketball. Dusty grew up 20 mins south of Btown? Then managed at IU as his "dream" and now has worked his tail off to become successful, if his life dream is to become IU basketball coach it would be hard to imagine you're not getting 100% every day from the guy. Records be damned - give me the leader with passion 10/10 times.

He's not basketball royalty, never got a great gig, simply worked his tail off to get where he is: Community college player, manager, intern, staff position, assistant coach, and eventually head coach. He's worked at every single echelon within a college program. He started by filling up water bottles for Pete's sake. He loves IU basketball. He "would walk from Florida to Btown for the IU job", do you think losing wouldn't kill him inside the same way it does fans? I'd be hard pressed to imagine him going out for wine and cigars after a loss.

Like to the 812? where were they from originally?

The family lived on the Monroe-Greene Co line. He and his wife graduated from Eastern Greene High School. His high school coach was Mark Barnhizer whose son now plays for Northwestern.

There goes the first domino in Chris Holtmann. Indiana can't sit around after the season and watch great candidates pass them by. Dolson needs to talk Woodson into retirement / new role and clean house from GA's to head coach.

Know any GA's looking for a job?

Equally important task Trish just brought up, which infuriates other fans as much as me I'm sure. We fire Archie, the least successful IU HC ever(?), and retain his freaking staff. What was IU administration thinking?!

Who would be a good portal get along with Thornton

It’s so funny (sad is probably a better word) that over the last 20 years we’ve lamented these local kids that went under the radar and elsewhere. Then along comes the portal which should work to our advantage, as much as any school, as we get to see which of these 3*’s workout and then poach them…yet we can’t even do that very effectively.

THAT as much as anything should be an indictment of the current staff, or any staff that follows, imo.

When that Neil Reid team was 16 year olds they were runner-up at nationals in Tennessee to Ron Mercer’s team.

Some of you watch different games I swear. Need to know where to buy those goggles that change the game to fit your narrative.

Cupps multiple times a game has wide and I mean wide open shots and he dribbles into traffic. He has never once been yelled out, benched etc for taking that shot. I think it was OSU or maybe Iowa where he was being left so wife open it was a joke. He would get a pass and immediately pass it up. He is not being coached to do that. Even his dad most recently said he is being pushed to take on more of a scoring roll by the staff but he can’t figure it out.

this has been my point for days now. You can think Woody sucks without making crap up.

So the players aren't listening to Woodson and he is really telling them to take those shots they are passing up and nothing happens to them when they don't take those shots.  So coaching.  Thanks for making my point.
