Fire Coach Woodson Thread

A team that goes to crap after their "leader" goes down is a soft team.  The great teams rally around their leader going down.  The old "Win one for the Gipper."

Agree....to a point. When you have to replace the main ball handler with an overmatched freshman, leader or not there is going to be growing pains.

Now I totally agree with all of this. I was just trying to say that the win last night didn't move the needle one way or another.

I think how the season ends definitely matters, but yeah this decision isn't going to be based on one game. From my perception of Dolson, I think he wants to move on. But right now he is insulated from the consequences of a failed hire because Quinn loves Woody. I don't think he wants to expose himself to the risk of making his own hire or pissing them off unless things are really bad, so he's looking for a couple wins to allow him to build a narrative for himself keeping Woodson. Before NW I thought he needed 3-4 in the last 7 to be safe, so I think he's 2 away from safety IMO. But right now probably 50/50

For me, I trust Dolson's evaluation of whether or not the leap to the B1G would be too big for him. Interested to hear about Dusty's vision, NIL strategy, HS vs. portal recruiting, how he'd engage the fanbase, offensive/defensive approach, potential staff hires and why etc.

While a deep run in the tourney would be nice and an early exit would sting, I don't want to place too much value on a couple weeks (or a couple days) of FAU basketball

an early exit gets us talking sooner.  :)

Yeah, why don’t we all put our so names and addresses on here as well. Why doesn’t Chris post his full name and his exact job at IU?

There are lots of ways of answering the question without revealing who you are. I personally think you're full of it.

What's funny is that you acknowledge people have made up their minds, yet here you are trying to change them in about the most ineffective manner possible with the attitude you put into your posts.

Yes he did. He went and visited Mullins and Sisley last month for the first time all season while other head coaches were routinely making the trip. When it was reported, rabby didn't explicitly say that it was because Woody was told to go see them, but it was pretty clear that was the case if you read between the lines.

Sounds like fireable malpratice to me.

sure you're talking leadership vs skill.

Main ball handler is supposed to be the guy that gets his teammates in the proper position, directing traffic so to speak. That is a form of leadership.

You are misreading me man.  Maybe we should DM. This wasn’t even about you. I was using it as an example that you don’t post your full name for all to see. I am not going to either. Same as most all here.

So I took advice of a few posters and decided I will post my facts, my truth, my opinion and not worry if others agree or not. I still appreciate legit counter points but I rarely see that. Most of the members here have their minds made up and don’t want to debate anything that doesn’t align with their feelings. People can have their opinions and that is great. I do think it is sad that many are not willing to consider more sides to arguments on many subjects.

Hey Pot, come here and meet Kettle.  :)

Yeah, but that's just the pace car.  Legit leaders are doing much more than that.

No, I said that Cupps can’t play at this level and it is obvious. Gunn has the ability to at least athletically and that this team needed him to work or it was in trouble. That Cupps couldn’t handle it. That has proven true. Cupps has given his all but it is easy to see.

Woody stopped playing Gunn as much (unless he had to) because of his dad. If X can stay healthy, I would bet Gunn gets the Banks treatment rest of the way.

Wait, so you're telling me a professional coach is mad at a player's dad so he stops playing him and sacrifices potential wins?   Al Davis was right -- "Just win baby."

Just maybe if people stop responding to a certain poster he might go away

I actually enjoy reading his posts because I envision him as someone from within the program or connections to someone within the staff and then it gives me the vantage of how the inner circle is feeling.   I basically disagree with all of it, but there is always 2 sides to a coin so I like seeing The Woodson Advocate's opinion.

Remember who was right about Woodson first Chris? ;)

Beat you by one post (though a couple of others beat us to it).

I started the inaugural Fire Tom Allen thread after the loss to MSU in 2019. He hit me back with a strong right hook the rest of 2019 and 2020, but I was ultimately vindicated! lol.

Again, agree to a point. I am not here to say that X is a perfect leader. That he ticks all the boxes we'd like to see ticked. However I don't think the other guys on the floor care much about what happened with the driving issue. Probably not even the flagrant fouls other than they put the team farther behind in the specific games they occurred in. I think they do care that he is more skilled than Cupps, more physically mature than Cupps. Can get to the rim on his own.

I think that a certain part of the fanbase has put much more emphasis on the character issues X has displayed than his teammates do.

I thought he was from Woodson’s inner circle, but the account was made in early 2019. Would’ve had to have been a long-term approach.

don't know what is going to happen, I pass along what I hear. I've been wrong many times and each time I am it gets pointed out by Hornsby, Josh or Hoosier2017 or someone like that LOL.

WRONG!  Boom.
