Cheer like hell for the players during introductions!  Boo your effing brains out at his introduction

Boo everyone. Mercenaries and coaches are both part of the problem. Woodson sucks but showing up with pisspoor effort game in and game out is on the mercenaries.

Dolson has a lot more power now.  The revenue that will be coming in through having a good football program (donors, allotment, sales, ticket sales) will be ridiculous. Even if Buckner wanted to keep him he can’t because the donor money and has too much power behind it.  It’s all in Dolson’s hands if he wants to make a change.

Just to add to this. I work with Billionaires associated with Duke and UNC. These people are the most pettiest people on the planet.  Buckner doesn’t want that smoke if he’s thinking about going against their wishes.  With an emerging football program new donors will arrive and if they’re being messed with, I got stories I wish I could share with you.

I am way behind on this thread (thank god) but can you imagine Cigs making this comment/excuse? Especially when Louisville has a new coach and a completely new team?

I think there's no chance of a change before season's end... but man... it's gonna get u-g-l-y.

True.

The OP did not say that.  He said something like:  "...read between the lines..." about conditioning.  Clearly teaching how to win; practicing how to win; doing the work necessary to win are vital.

Crean is a very hard worker.  He is smart too.  But he oversells everything.  And he misses the most important things to get good execution on the court during games.  Sometimes one has to try to get the best out of certain matchups.  Keep it simple. And working harder does not mean working smarter. A lot goes on in the months leading up to the season.  And one has to look at stamina and focus in the last 24 hours before a game.

Just wish he would focus on the basics rather than playing 5th-dimensional chess and promising to attain all of the universes. These are college students.  They do not need 400 sets.

He is a decent broadcast analyst. Sometimes, he recruits well but mostly does not put the right pieces together.  Just not a great coach.

I believe I was the OP you're referring to?

As you mentioned, Crean had many flaws but he lived and breathed basketball as a coach. I have little doubt of Crean's ability to see flaws with others while not being able to implement them as a coach.

Yeah, I can second that.  In short, those people think they should get whatever they want for the money they give, and if they don’t get it, the money stops immediately.

After taking HIS university to the cleaners. Somebody needs to hold Buckner accountable for this crap.

Yes, he’s one of the biggest reasons we have this clown as our coach!  Now that we are on year 4, it never was about B10 and National Championships, it was about how much we can take from our beloved university!

Looking forward to the book upon retirement.  Bet it's juicy.

Please don't.  That would kill our chances of getting any of our talent to return under a new coach.  It would also make other players decide they don't want to play at IU.

Louisville just got a new coach and 13 new players that are all buying in and complement each other.

i am not worried in the slightest about retaining players that don’t give 100% and don’t complement each others skill sets

I told everyone that if lost to Louisville, this thread would explode and it has!  I also noticed, other than Steuben, the Woodson apologist have quit posting in this thread, imagine that!  And I think Steuben has all but quit too!  lol!   We all seen this issue 3 years ago, got worse last year and now everyone is seeing it.  He’s ran out of excuses but there seems to be plenty of humps in the way!

I think we just boo MW, they are playing like that because he allows it and players take on the personality of their coach

The apologists bought him the extra year. That radical 10% was enough support for the administration to say, let’s keep him and give him a raise.

had we had 100% solidarity he would have already been gone. Now we get to sit through another miserable season while that 10% finally comes around to seeing what the rest of us have known for a long time

If players don't want to play here because they might get booed, then let someone else have those soft players.

Not sure an ego as large as his can suffer a hit, regardless of what we do... he's insufferable, arrogant, and truly believes that he's the smartest man in any room.

When Dolson finally does the deed, I don't want Mike Woodson or his name anywhere around the Indiana University basketball program. Period. He had a decent legacy here at one time, but he's completely destroyed that with is incompetence as "coach".

Yeah, you’re probably right, but I was just thinking of a way of making useful at something he’s good at like maybe schmoozing with recruits parents and taking them out on the golf course, dinners, fine wines etc..:)

After all, it does seem that people really like him outside of coaching.

Yea I don't buy this either, money talks in this era. No one chose to come to IU in the offseason because MW is a good coach. Maybe if you squint and assume players are giving Woody credit for the development of TJD and to a lesser extent KW (which I doubt) I could see Ballo making that decision. We didn't get a couple of the best guards in the portal because we play a sweet guard-centric offense. We got them because we could offer known P4 entities more money than freshmen 5* guards. When getting equal money, the high school guards are consistently not choosing IU (really all high school recruits, but I digress). IU will get players, period. Especially in this era. Add in the right scheme/coach to that? Our recruiting would be nuclear IMO.

Meh. I’m so over Woodson and his team that I don’t care if any of them come back next season. This program need a total reset.

Ideally fans just wouldn’t show up to the games. The program deserves 2023 IUFB crowds.

Not wanting us to lose but yet wanting to see this man fail is such a tough spot to be in as a fan. I’ll still never miss watching a game when I’m able to watch, but so odd to not really care what the results are if it means a change can be made. I’ve been so obsessed with IU basketball the past 25 years, but the last couple/few just haven’t been as fun as I’d like them to be.

I can see Dolson moving on after this season, but I doubt it’ll be during the season unfortunately. Hope I’m 1000%wrong on that one. Let Calbert and crew take over. I think it’d be easier to root for this season to be a success if there was type of announcement that Woodson was gonna be gone after the season.

There's some talent on the team, Woodson just doesn't have the slightest clue what to do with it. A competent coach could do something with it.

I'll think Miller is worse, than Woodson goes and completely craps himself yet again.
