Fire Coach Woodson Thread

Recommended Posts

The thing is the boosters who gave Woodson six million are so rich it's nothing to them. Not sure they even care. They likely just want Woodson access.

And as long as he makes the tourney I doubt they will want a change

You’d have to go back a long ways, to my original posts on this…

I have never been this staunch CMW guy. What I have been is a guy that disagrees with the disrespectful/snarky/hateful rhetoric that this thread seems to encourage.

I have said from the beginning that people can criticize, but don’t have to disparage. I am getting closer to agreeing that it’s time for a change, but I won’t be that guy who thinks it’s okay to kick a coach when he’s down.

I hope Dolsen can find someone better. Someone this fan base can get behind 100% But I won’t be the pitchfork guy calling for Woodson’s neck.

That’s fair.

As I said in my post, I loved Woody as a player. He achieved  a lot during his time on the hardwood.

But you can’t look past the lack of effort and direction. Had he played anywhere else he would never be the coach at IU.

At this point, it just needs to end. He’s Dead Man Walking.

I am on the side that a change is made soon imo. We probably will win today but does it matter? The national media and the untrue iu fans see how bad this situation is. I believe the administration will also. However I an see us rolling through the cupcakes and getting into big ten season before making the change. Way to late in the season to save face!

I am sure it was covered on here by some of you but just seen crean was saying our conditioning was a factor in his opinion. Like tyme alluded to. Why would our guys not be conditioned to play ball at this point? This is 100 percent Woodson fault even if our football trainer guy screwed up. Want to bet on our guys to cover the spread today but if conditioning was a factor yesterday I can't wait to see what happens today!

If I remember correctly, Crean overworked his players and they were pooped in certain games.  It was not a condition issue.  He ran them full tilt even before games.  He thought that hard and long work and running faster and deflections were tops. (To me, it was talent and speed over putting the players into position to take advantage of the other team.)  Other than that, Crean is all mouth...that is his strength.

IU's problems are not conditioning.  They are mental.  They are effort.  They do not know how to win....or just don't try to play like smart basketball teammates.  Where are the double screens?  Blockouts?  3's? Why is Ballo way out trying to defend? Why not try to protect the ball, guards?  Defensive rebounds?  Coaches?  Mental over physical...3:1.

Crean had 2 hour pre game walk thru’s that killed his most talented teams late in the season. He showed his real coaching prowess at UGA just like Sampson has at Houston. The one that got away over phone calls.

See I think this situation could get uglier than Archie and Crean…. I think if this mess goes South even slightly more this will be ugly. I think we are hunkering down for the hurricane getting ready to hit this program and praying it somehow misses.  We lose tomorrow…. Next home game will be a mess from attendance to booing

I wanted those guys gone as early as anyone and then grew to feel bad for them. Crean busted his a— and cared openly. Davis and Archie were just way over their head with no ability to correct anything and all out of answers. I don’t know if I’ll muster up any sympathy for Woody.

Some of the players kind of play like they don't give a sh*t.  It really is an NBA in the 3rd game of a 4 game cross country road trip type of attitude.

Case in point:

Woodson's problems run deeper than X's and O's, we have a culture problem and frankly I think it is a problem that carries over from prior coaching staffs.

Tbf to Bako, that is an awful play. One of the worst attempts at a ball screen you’ll see this side of a 3rd grade game to step into a long shot that clanks off the rim by a guy who’s done little but clank them off the rim. Idk…at some point the poor play will kill effort across the board.

The national media doesn’t pay attention to college basketball until after football season. And quite frankly, nobody cares about Indiana on a national level. Duke, Kentucky, UNC… maybe.

We're in that "they used to be good?" category that us football fans make fun of the Nebraska guys for but it's miserable.  I mean, it's not like we're completely forgotten like CCNY or San Francisco, but it makes outsiders ask why don't we just adopt a West Virginia stance and just accept an NIT bid.

Providence had the late game and are probably tired. Surely there’s no way IU will lose………. Right?

I am thinking the same way… Yet again could see Hopkins returns lights a spark for them and our team is packing up their belongings in the hotel room at halftime

I wouldn’t hold your breath!  Woody doesn’t know how to develop team chemistry and hasn’t shown the coaching ability to turn around a team in a very short turnaround. This will be a closer game than it should be and we could come out on the short end!
