NOTES

The Hoosiers will be a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament for the first time, as it heard its name called as the No. 2 overall team in the field on Sunday night. This is the ninth time the program has appeared in the Big Dance, including the last four-consecutive.

Indiana holds an overall 8-8 record in eight all-time tournament appearances. Ninth year head coach Teri Moren is 7-4 all-time in the Big Dance.

IU is coming off a Sweet Sixteen appearance in 2021-22 and an Elite Eight berth in 2020-21. Indiana has advanced to the round of 32 in each of Teri Moren's five appearances in the postseason tournament.

Senior forward Mackenzie Holmes and graduate student guard Grace Berger each picked up three All-American honors on Wednesday in postseason honors announced by the Associated Press, USBWA and CSC Academic All-America. Holmes placed on the first team on all three respective teams. It marked the first ever AP and USBWA first team selections for the program. Berger earned a spot on the CSC Academic All-American team while earning honorable mention nods by the AP and USBWA.

Holmes and Berger are making their fourth-straight NCAA Tournament appearance, holding a 5-2 overall record in the Big Dance. Between the two all-time, they have combined for 260 career games played, including 200 career starts. They have each reached the 1,800-career point mark, combining for 3,628 points in their careers.

Tennessee Tech is a hot team - they shoot the three well.

Tennessee Tech only plays one player on their roster who is as tall as our point guard, Grace Berger.

Tennessee Tech has played only one game against a P5-ish program. They lost that game 68-57 to U Cincinnati of the American Conference. Cincinnati finished their year 9-21 overall.

Guard/overextend to the three point line defensively and this should be a typical 1/16 matchup.

A couple things I will be looking out for today.

1) Will Mack be in her sleeve knee brace or a larger brace?

2) Will CTM bring in Lexus in the 1st quarter for a minute or so to get her some exposure to the tournament?

Afraid of that concerning Mack….

limited is not precautionary….that’s just wishful thinking.  (IU Ladies will be a different adjusted) team especially if they can get past sweet 16 and tournament gets more challenging.  All IU Ladies need to step up.  Great opportunities not only for L.M….but even more so for Parrish, Scalia, Moore-McNeil, and Garzon.

Expect Berger to be great.

Seems there just can’t be enough depth.

Indy Star -

Coach Teri Moren said everyone on her team was "a little banged up" following IU's loss to Ohio State in the Big Ten tournament semifinals on March 4, and cited Holmes specifically, saying she was "dealing with some health things."

Asked about her health during Friday's media availability, Holmes said: "I've definitely been progressing. It's been a good couple weeks of resting and rehab, for sure."

Disappointing news about Mack. It's been two weeks since we played. Certainly didn't think she'd be 100% healthy by now, but figured she'd be able to go.

Don't want to take any opponent for granted, but wondering if the thought is that we can get to Greensboro without her -- which would give her another week to heal.
