Not a believer in the Illinois newcomers? One poll I saw ranked them ahead of us post-TJD decision.

Matthew Mayer scares me. He gives me Brady Manek vibes. UNC fans wanted him real bad for the same reason

Manek is way better IMO.

Mayer is a big that won't play inside and shoots a low percentage from three. In his career at Baylor he averages 0.4 blocks per game at 6'9". that is not good.  UNC fans may have wanted him because he fits their perception of pale-faced stretch four to replace Manek, but UNC coaches didn't want him -- they want Pete Nance. Nance is a better rebounder and a better shooter than Mayer.

I went through every game and the 1st time going through it I had:

1. Illinois 15-5

2. IU 14-6

3. Purdue 14-6

4. Iowa 13-7

5. OSU 13-7

6. Michigan 12-8

7. MSU 11-9

8. Wisconsin 11-9

9. Rutgers 10-10

10. Maryland 10-10

11. Penn State 6-14

12. Minnesota 6-14

13. Nebraska 3-17

14. Northwestern 2-18

Seeing Purdue tied with IU and Maryland finishing .500 with a new coach forced me to some make changes that lead to:

1. Illinois 15-5

2. IU 14-6

3. OSU 13-7

4. Iowa 13-7

5. Purdue 12-8

6. Michigan 12-8

7. MSU 12-8

8. Wisconsin 11-9

9. Rutgers 10-10

10. Maryland 9-11

11. Penn State 7-13

12. Minnesota 6-14

13. Nebraska 3-17

14. Northwestern 2-18

Tell me who Purdue’s three best guards are…

Nope, not him. No, he sucks. Nope, he transferred. Nope, not him either.

Revise what I predicted to snow me where you think they’ll finish.

“Torvik” spelled backwards is “Rot-turd.”

(actually it’s “Kiv-rot” but you get the idea)

Honestly, if Skyy Clark were ours instead of IL, I'd expect we'd be predicting/expecting great things from him.

If we had Clark, we'd be expecting great things from him ... as X's backup. We'd also be hoping he got healthy enough to battle Bates and Galloway for the starting SG slot.

Illinois needs him to be their 30 minute per game point guard.

Our real difference Maker is Bates. If he can be the player we all hoped he can be. Able to drive or shoot from perimeter. Fingers crossed

Agree but think it's Bates and JG. JG has that monster potential, while Bates is primed to explode offensively

True.  If one of them can play wing and be able to drive and shoot from distance we will be a really good team. If both can we can be a great team
