Class of '66 Old Fart

(2023) - G Julianna LaMendola to INDIANA

Recommended Posts

Indiana women's basketball has added its second player in the class of 2023.

The Hoosiers picked up a commitment from 6-foot-1 guard Julianna LaMendola from  Coppell High School in the Dallas, Texas area. She visited IU's campus in late April and relayed her decision to IU's staff on Saturday. Indiana recruited her for more than a year.

LaMendola joins guard Lenee Beaumont, who committed from the Chicago area in April. LaMendola plays with ProSkills 17U on the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL) circuit, and her team recently won the prestigious Boo Williams event in Hampton, Va.

She led Coppell to the area championship this year before the Cowgirls fell in the Class 6A regional quarterfinals. LaMendola was named District 6-6A MVP, and she was selected to the Texas Class 6A All-State team. Per the Coppell Gazette, she scored 16.5 points, grabbed 9.1 rebounds, dished four assists, and swiped 1.9 steals per game, and she recorded a 54.7 shooting percentage.

Other high major schools that offered LaMendola scholarships included Northwestern, Illinois, Penn State, Vanderbilt, TCU, SMU and South Florida.

LaMendola is the fifth player, in total, the Hoosiers have landed this offseason. They also brought in transfers Alyssa Geary (Providence), Sydney Parrish (Oregon), and Sara Scalia (Minnesota).

We recruited her for a year and she’s still calling it the “University of Indiana?”

Sigh. Lol

Anyone that calls us University of Indiana should have automatic 25% knocked off any NIL deals!

Typical T. Moren type recruit hardworking and has the term defense in her vocabulary.
I notice it is hard to find star ratings on some of the women side especially espn though espn may copy from other systems.  So, how high level recruit are some of those girls coming to IU?…. They appear to be pretty high level as players with much upside.

Big game last January and she was battling the flu.  Threw up before the game and again at halftime,  Still scored 39 of her team's 75 pts. in a win!
