Per WishTV:

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WISH) — Indiana University point guard Xavier Johnson has been arrested for reckless driving and resisting law enforcement, according to Monroe County Sheriff Brad Swain.

Just after 3 a.m. Sunday, a Monroe County sheriff’s deputy saw a Dodge Charger going 90 mph on North Walnut Street, a main thoroughfare through downtown Bloomington.

The deputy tried to pull the Charger over, but the driver refused to stop. The car drove into a parking lot at an apartment complex and ran a stop sign while trying to get away from the deputy.

The car eventually stopped and the deputy saw Johnson, 22, get out of the car and switch seats with a passenger, identified by police as Lee Marrioti.

The two men switched places to give the impression that Mariotti was the person driving away from police instead of Johnson, according to Sheriff Swain.

Johnson was arrested and booked into the Monroe County Corrections Center. He faces a felony charge of resisting law enforcement with a vehicle and a misdemeanor charge of reckless driving. He has since been released from jail.

Marrioti was charged with false informing for saying that he was the driver of the car. He has also been released from jail.

IU basketball player Parker Stewart was also in the car at the time, but was not charged, Swain says. Parker declined to tell police who was driving the car during the pursuit.

Kick Stewart off the team and call it even….

Those charges will get worked out. The felony charge (probably class c) is over the top. This isn’t something you dismiss a kid over, discipline and teaching (which is what a college is actually supposed to do) is what should happen

Agree. But I will say this: the kid endangered himself, his passengers and others. The discipline better be an absolute @$$ whuppin’, and with Woody I imagine it will be.

Jeezus -- just looking at this site for the first time today and see this.

It only broke today and already this thread is six pages.

The arrest report and court records probably won't even be this long. LOL!

That said, Xavier -- save the 90 mph for the basketball court.

My goodness… your moral superiority complex is insufferable. If we kick X off the team for this then we deserve to suck for decades more.

It is just not this one offense but this is his second offense this year.  He also had problems at Pitt as well

To me Stewart being in the car is what raises my eyebrows. Kid has lived a troubled life but has contently been setting a bad example this year for everyone as an upper-class man and wonder if he has been a bad example for X.

Wonder if him leaving team doesn't improve X's troubles and teams run-in with trouble in general.
