This evening kicks off the Pangos All-American Camp in Las Vegas.  Attendance is by invite only and it is not open to the public;  however, media and NBA scouts can apply for credentials to attend.  Players will have skills workouts followed by camp games and in the past, stats for the games have been posted.   There are a number of kids with IU offers participating.  Partial invite list at:  https://www.on3.com/news/pangos-all-american-camp-loaded-with-top-2023-and-2024-talent/

Also attending is '24 K. J. Windham from Ben Davis HS. who reportedly played very well yesterday at the Mike Woodson Team Camp.

Not seeing any box scores for the Pangos event but Xavier Booker played extremely well and this from one commentator:  Loved what I saw out of 6-11 2023 Xavier Booker (Cathedral/Indianapolis IN) tonite. Long, athletic & skilled F is starting to blossom into a Top 5-10 player. X had 28 pts (12/15 FG; 4/4 3FG) & 9 rebs vs fellow 5-star F Baye Fall.

Booker and Stojakovic mentioned in this:  https://www.on3.com/news/observations-and-storylines-from-day-1-of-pangos-all-american/

Eric Bossi on our latest offeree Boogie Fland:

Sunday night was a good one for Johnuel Fland. Better known as Boogie, the 6-foot-2 point guard was committed to playing solid, fundamentally sound basketball and he did a nice job in several areas.

Fland found teammates with crisp passes, he hit on a handful of pretty jumpers from three and did some nice things to control tempo when the ball was in his hands. Unfortunately, not everybody on his team was in that same mode and they suffered a good old fashioned come-from-ahead loss by taking some really suspect shots down the stretch of a game they had well in hand.

Though he hasn’t announced them publicly, Fland confirmed to 247Sports that he’s recently added offers from Indiana and Michigan. Also, he’s planning to use the month of June to fit in a handful of visits to programs that are within a few hours of his home in New York. Among the places he said he’s planning to stop by are Connecticut, Rutgers, Seton Hall, St. John’s, and Villanova.

On3.com on Xavier Booker:  My first impression of Xavier Booker saw him live up to the insane rankings jump he’s recently received. Now ranked No. 30 overall by the On3 Consensus with the expectation he’ll soon receive unanimous five-star status, it didn’t take long for him to stand out. Booker posted 28 points and nine rebounds in his first game of the camp for Team Duke (which is coincidentally the program considered the leader in his recruitment). The lefty knocked down four straight 3-pointers in a short span and nearly hit the fifth. His power rising up and slamming home dunks is impressive for someone still needing to add muscle. I’ll be interested to see if he can produce similar numbers in day two action, but he was easily one of the best players at the event through the first day.

BallisLife.com on Booker:  The early clubhouse favorite for camp Most Outstanding player is Xavier Booker, a 6-foot-11 2023 prospect out of Cathedral (Indianapolis, Ind.). Booker would be a terrific prospect with his frame, fluidity, bounce and skill level alone, but the separator is his shooting range. He has a terrific left-handed stroke and his shooting mechanics will never be confused for those Richie Adams (UNLV) and Walter Berry (St. John’s) possessed. Like those two college standouts from yesteryear, Booker could develop into a collegiate All-American…and more.

Booker’s shot is pure and he had it going on Sunday evening in a prime-time matchup with Baye Fall, a 6-foot-11 prospect from Accelerated Schools (Denver, Col.) who is considered one of the best prospects in the national Class of 2023. Booker continued to light it up on Saturday and showed why he could challenge for the top spot in the national class of 2023 when it’s all said and done in the Spring of next year. Not bad for a young man who came off the bench for Cathedral as a sophomore, had zero offers just over a year ago, plays for independent travel club George Hill All-Indy and was a Cream of the Crop Top 60 selection at last year’s camp.

Michigan St., Indiana, Ohio St., and Illinois have Booker as a priority.  Some recruiting experts believe the Spartans have the inside track. At Pangos, Booker is playing for camp team “Duke” and the Blue Devils are now eyeing Booker. Can John Scheyer wrestle him away from Big Ten country?

BallisLife.com on Yves Missi:  The clear breakout performer of this camp is 2024 big man Yves Thierry Ouwe Missi, a 6-foot-11 talent from West Nottingham Academy (Colora, Md.). He goes by Yves Missi, but regardless of what the Centre, Cameroon native is called on social media post or in published stories, one word sums him up: talent! In fact, Missi might be the camp’s biggest breakout performer since Ben Simmons came to the camp as a rising sophomore in the summer of 2012 and wowed with his size, passing and feel. The native of Australia went to Montverde Academy (Fla.) that following winter and was named by Ballislife.com as the high school player of the 2010s.

Missi may not have a Simmons type of impact on the high school game, but he’s leaving an indelible mark on this camp. Missi is a workhorse underneath with a frame that screams upside and a toolbox that leads to rapid development. He is also producing, even coming up with a spectacular block to save a game for his camp team. Two of the three major recruiting networks do have Missi ranked and the third doesn’t have him among its published top 60. Through the camp’s first two days, Missi rates as a top five performer.

The finale at the Pangos Camp was the Top 30 game and the blue team just mauled the red team winning 166 - 141 in a game played with 25 minute halves and where defense was optional.  It was a game reminiscent of your playground days when it was "no blood, no foul" as only 4 fouls were called in the entire game.  The red team dominated the boards with a 63 - 34 rebound advantage.

Xavier Booker was named the camp MVP.

Xccelerated Sports Metrics didn't post stats for a couple of games and in the Top 30 and Top 60 games stats for turnovers, blocks and steals weren't published.

On3 with commentary on '24 K J. Windham's performance at the Pangos Camp.

KJ Windham (2024) NR | 6-3, 165-pound SG

Coming into the event without a recruiting page at On3, 247Sports, Rivals or ESPN — Prep Hoops is currently the only outlet with a profile — the Ben Davis High School (Indianapolis, IN) standout proved he belonged in a sea of top-level competition across all age groups. The 6-foot-3, 165-pound lefty showed off a smooth and confident shooting stroke, knocking down 3-pointers with ease on catch-and-shoot looks. He also found success on floaters and confidently attacked the basket for finishes through contact. After an impressive three-day stretch at camp, Windham was named to the Top 60 Cream of the Crop Game, exploding from deep on high volume.

Gerry Hamilton of On3 on Yve Missi at the Pangos camp.  (IU offered on April 14)

Most Outstanding Player – C Yves Missi

Pangos All-American Camp was Yves Missi’s first exposure camp he has taken part in. The 6-foot-10.5, 230-pounder didn’t take long to display why he will be one of the top prospects in the 2024 cycle. Missi was the most physical interior player at a loaded camp, and fought for rebounds outside his area. He looked to play through the chest of defenders, and finish with powerful dunks. Missi’s motor will likely never be in question. He was productive on both ends of the floor with the confidence to play over his left shoulder in the paint. Missi will enter the next 2024 rankings update from On3 later this summer.

Recruitment: Nearing 15 offers, including Michigan, Kansas, UCLA and St. John’s.

Several IU offerrees playing here, including Booker and Stojakovic. Dylan Harper has a nice game. It’s a brutal watch, typical camp all star game, but there’s some stuff you can glean if you can find your way past the 30 ft pull-ups 1 on 5.

More commentary on K. J. Windham from the Pangos All-American Camp

Should we assume his presence at team camp, with Ben Davis HS, indicates IU had a head start on other high-major programs?
