How are schedules assigned?  In the NFL, the results of the previous year reflect each team's schedule difficulty the next year.  Big Ten scheduling seems willy nilly.

I have never looked into that and would like to know too. Our closing stretch is pretty brutal.
If we do make the jump to winning the B1G we will have earned it

The matchups are on a rotational basis. When the matchups (not dates) came out in the spring, I looked up and found it was the exact double and single plays from 2018. Don't know whether the dates are assigned by the previous year's record or not. Being projected to be near the top has given us more Saturday home games in one year than we've had the last three.

Also… strength of schedule is a funny thing. You never know which teams will be the easiest double-plays.

*Except Nebraska under Hoiberg; with them we know.

Same with the NFL teams, but at least they try to spread the schedules fairly.  Big Ten seems to have come up with an arbitrary schedule, then just rotates it every year

Without going through the last couple years to cross-reference, 6 games on network TV seems like a big jump up in coverage, understandably. Hopefully a couple of those FOX games get put in 4K.

9:15 tip time...is ESPN finally figuring out game windows????

Don’t think so. It’s the first night of the B10/ACC Challenge so you know the Valvano speech will take up the first 15 minutes of coverage at least and then the OSU/Duke game before us is scheduled to tip at 7:15. I say our tip is 9:30 earliest.

LMorehead State team we open up with has quite a few moving pieces.  From last year's roster:

Johni Broome:  6'10" center, leading scorer (16.8 ppg), rebounder (10.5 rpg) and shot blocking force (3.9 bpg) transferred to Auburn.

Skyelar Potter:  6'3" shooting guard and second leading scorer (10.4 ppg) transferred to Jackson State.

Ta'lon Cooper: 6'4" starting point guard (9.1 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 5.9 apg) transferred to Minnesota.

Jaylen Sebree:  roleplayer forward (4.6 ppg, 3.0 rpg in 14 minutes/game) transferred to Tennessee Tech

Transferred in:

Mark Freeman, 5'11" point guard from Illinois State.  Averaged 8.8 points and 3.5 assists.  Previously at Tennessee State before Illinois St.

Jalen Hawkins, 6'2" shooting guard from Norfolk State.  Averaged 12.9 points and 3.7 rebounds.  Previously at Robert Morris before Norfolk State.

Jordan Lathon, 6'4" swingman from Milwaukee.  Averaged 7.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.9 assists.  At UTEP before Milwaukee.

Brenden Maughmer, 6'3" guard.  Fifth year transfer from Division II Cedarville.  Averaged 16.6 ppg as a senior.

Kalil Thomas, 6'5" small forward from U Mass Lowell.  Averaged 9.1 ppg and 4.1 rpg.

------------------------------------

Have to say they lost more than they brought in.  Broome is a huge loss.  They have been voted as the preseason favorite to win the conference by the media, but there is a catch......five teams leither left the conference last year or leave this year and they were mostly the top of the league (Murray State and Belmont are joining the Missouri Valley Conference,  Austin Peay and Eastern Kentucky is moving to the Atlantic Sun,  and Jacksonville State is joining Conference USA).  In 2020-1, the top six teams were Morehead State and the five that are no longer in the conference;  the three teams that are leaving this year finished 1, 2, and tied for fifth last year.  It's an absolutely horrible conference now:  Morehead State, Tennessee Tech, Tennessee Martin, Tennessee State, Southern Indiana, Little Rock, Lindenwood, SIU Edwardswillve, Eastern Illinois, Southeast Missouri.

If only you’d do a little research

Just bought tickets for my wife and I (the Illinois alum) to go to IU @ Illinois in January. If I never post on here again after January 19, just know that it was a pleasure getting to know you all.

Surprisingly, they still had tickets for sale through Illinois directly. Still not as surprising as being able to just hop on the Kansas site and buy season tickets no questions asked as of September.

So YOU are an Illinois alum?  Or, your wife is?
