Nationally seeded Indiana men's soccer (14-5-1, 5-3-0 B1G) is set to begin its 2021 NCAA Tournament run Sunday (Nov. 21) as it hosts Bowling Green (11-5-3, 2-2-2 MAC) in a second round matchup on Jerry Yeagley Field at Bill Armstrong Stadium. Kickoff is set for noon ET.

SETTING THE SCENE
• Indiana is the only program to earn a national seed in each of the last eight seasons and earned a first-round bye as the No. 15 overall seed.
• The Hoosiers have an eight-match win streak at Bill Armstrong Stadium and own a 10-3-0 record at home. The Hoosiers are 70-6-3 all-time in NCAA Tournament home matches.
• IU has not lost back-to-back matches since 2014.
 
ABOUT THE FALCONS
• Bowling Green is led by 13th year head coach Eric Nichols. He has compiled a record of 106-99-34 during his time with the Falcons.
• BGSU defeated Louisville, 1-0, on the road in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Senior midfielder Kale Nichols was responsible for the lone goal in the 30th minute.
• Redshirt senior defender Jacob Erlandson and redshirt senior forward Roberto Fernandez Garrido have each scored six goals this season to lead the Falcons. Sophomore midfielder Kyle Cusimano has contributed a team-high eight assists.
• Junior goalkeeper Logan Kowalczyk has appeared in goal in 14 of 19 matches for BGSU, owning a 9-3-2 record with seven shutouts.
 
SERIES HISTORY
• Indiana owns a 15-3-1 all-time record against Bowling Green.
• The last match between the two programs came in the regional final round of the 1997 NCAA Tournament. IU won, 4-0, on its way to the NCAA College Cup.
• The two teams met in the regional final round the year before, 1996, as well, and the Hoosiers were victorious, winning 2-0.
 
DOMINANT DEFENSE
• The Indiana defense has posted 12 total shutouts this season, including a streak of seven
straight clean sheets in October, the second-longest single-season shutout streak in program history. During that stretch, the Hoosiers did not concede a goal in 725 consecutive minutes of play.
• Junior Roman Celentano is the first-ever two-time Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Year, earning the award in back-to-back seasons. His career-high 10 shutouts rank No. 3 nationally.
• Junior Daniel Munie is the fourth Hoosier in the last five seasons to earn the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year Award, following Grant Lillard (2017), Andrew Gutman (2018) and Jack Maher (2019).

This is the exact opposite of the basketball game on BTN+. Here there’s one camera constantly keeping 1/2 of the field in frame. Nothing else. The camera in the basketball game probably had a broken zoom button by the time it ended.

Looks like they came in planning to play long balls over the BG back line. The grass is FAST and not allowing anyone to catch them.
