Game Thread: 9/18 vs. Cincinnati - Noon - ESPN

*boxing bell rings*

A sold-out Rock, a top-10 opponent that’s probably a bit big for its britches, and a beautifully forecasted September afternoon in Bloomington. What else could we need?

Line is Bearkittens -4 according to @mamasa in another thread.

GO HOOSIERS. L.E.O.

Can't wait until game time!  The team and the coaches have all sorts of pressure heaped on them.  But they are very experienced in this sort of game.  Neither team has seen the entire arsenal of the other. IU needs to run much better than they have been.   IU's Special Teams may make the difference.  Will be fun.

I made a mistake.  Bought a 7 year Bird Dog Bourbon just before the Idaho game.  Just don't.  Been relatively sober since.  Time to switch back to WT101 or OGD114... If I wanted to stay under $30...or Jefferson Reserve Ocean for over $50.  Just like IU...stepping up my game.

The Bearcat mascot is really a cat though. The origination of the mascot came from an player named Baehr and was coined when they were playing the Wildcats (KY).

So we got the Cleveland Browns and the Cincinnati Baehrcats.  Makes sense.

I've got a bad feeling about this one. Any other time, losing to a top 10 team at home wouldn't be much to worry about. But it just feels like this game could make or break our season. If it's a hell of a game and we lose, I won't lose hope for the season yet. But if it ends up something like 35-16, with a tricky away game next week before heading to PSU.....oh boy.

I just passed the Cincinnati team buses coming into Bloomington. They had a police escort which for some reason annoys the hell out of me

Hope the Police escort them to Nick's for multiple rounds of Sink the Biz into the wee hours!

Go Hoosiers!!!!!!

The thread I actually agree with more. This may be one of Cincy’s better chances to “prove it” in the last couple years; against an IU team that, frankly, kinda has its backs against the wall tomorrow as it pertains to this season. Win this and you’re back on track for that historic season everyone was talking about. Lose it? Well, like PJP said, you’re likely fighting for bowl eligibility.

While I agree with some of the things, I always hate narratives that diminish bowl wins because of whatever reason...

I've lived in the dirty south (from Indy) for 20+ years now. I can tell you that the top SEC teams all feel like a failure if they don't make the CFP, but really doubt UGA mailed it in due to the opponent being Cinci. UGA fans were up for the game and it wasn't like they were playing MAC team or something. There are reasons why the matchup was a good one IMO.

Overall, a great prove it opportunity for for IU. Cinci has more to lose though. Cinci wins, and it's expected... But folks won't give them credit and will still poo poo their conference and standing. If they lose, even if IU turns out to be a great team, and folks will just say overrated. IU wins, and they'll get some praise. IU loses, and the national folks won't say too much.

Question to the board....

If you could only pick one.....

Beat Cinci

or

Beat OSU...

I refuse to answer because of my constitutional fifth of bourbon...right?!  And no one can make me take that shot of Bird Dog 7 bourbon...

I never answer these questions...but if I did...OSU would be my answer because it is in-conference...and it would be so very sweet.  Go IU!
