Following this realease, Adam Finkelstein commented on some kids that he's higher on than the industry.

Based on his long-term potential…that’s a different story. The son of former NBA All-Star Peja Stojakovic, Andrej Stojakovic made a massive jump, up from 103 to 25. But I believe he’s just getting started. He’s already a highly skilled big wing who can shoot it, initiate offense like a guard, and has positional size. Defensively, he’s not there yet, to put it plainly. Overall, though, he has a frame that suggests he might still be growing, and if he adds even a couple more inches, 25 will be just a distant memory. Even if he doesn’t, it might still be in the rearview mirror as he continues to fill-out and mature physically.

You’re probably noticing a theme at this point. Shooting is at a premium. You can’t generate floor-spacing without it and there isn’t enough of it to go around. Four-star Indiana commit Gabe Cupps isn’t just a one-dimensional shooter though. He is skilled across-the-board, smart, and tough. Those are all characteristics that coaches put a premium on because they impact winning from day one on a college campus. So, while there may be prospects with more size, length, athleticism, or even style…there aren’t many with more substance.

Yes — most are looking to a player’s ultimate destination in these rankings. For the reasons Wayne mentioned there’s probably a cap on Cupps at like ~50.

Seems like a high-floor guy. Like barring injury or other catastrophe, he plays early and often, but isn’t likely to land on draft boards.

Agree with all this except playing early.  I’m not sure he will if our team maintains top 25 aspirations each and every season.

Yeah, totally fair. If he’s ready there may be backup PG minutes; if he needs some seasoning you can probably stagger JHS and Galloway on nights when you can’t afford to roll a frosh out there.

He will be one of the reasons we maintain those top 25 rankings. This kid can play. He can run a team. He dictates tempo, great vision, gets in the lane, can finish, and a decent shooter. He will thrive playing with more talented players.

Latest '23 rankings from Rivals with a bit of commentary on each.   J. Q. Roberts is not mentioned and has not ranked by the major ranking services.  Missing from the list below is Freddie Dilione who is #116.  Lasley includes Brady Dunlap and Devin Royal in his list.  We've been following Dunlap although he does not have an IU offer.  I've not seen anything recently to suggest we're actively pursuing Royal.  If someone knows otherwise, please share.

I don't care where he's ranked, I can't wait to watch him play for the Hoosiers! He's a difference maker, whether in practice or games.
