Wednesday they face Chile at 12:30 ET with the game streamed on the FIBA YouTube channel.

Watched him in the 1st 2 games last night, and once you get past atrocious to’s the 1st 2 times he touched the ball in the Puerto Rico game, he’s been very good. Defensively, he’s been a menace. No  idea how many deflections he had between the 2 games,  but easily double digits. Just overwhelmed the Dominican Republic guards. Best defender on the floor in both games.

I failed to point out that in today's game against Chile he did not have any turnovers in 15 min. of play nor did he have any in the game against Dominican Republic in 11 min. of game time.  Sounds like he got rid of any jitters against Puerto Rico.

They really should just declare the USA team the winners and send everyone else home.  In last night's game against Mexico, the USA team had a 40 point halftime lead and cruised to a 123-53 win.  Fears played 19 minutes and scored 11 pts. on 4-8 FG; 0-1 on 3s; 3-4 FT.  He added 6 reb; 3 asst; 2 stl; 1 TO.  He's now committed just a single TO in his last 45 min. of court time.

Tonight's semifinal pits the USA against Canada at 9:30 ET.

To no one's great surprise, the USA team won the gold medal with a 90-75 win over Argentina.  In the gold medal game Fears played 14 min. scored just 2 pts. on 1-2 FG.  He added 4 reb; 2 asst; 2 TO.

For his 6 games in the tournament he averaged 15 min./game of playing time and averaged 8.5 ppg.  He shot 19-35 (54%) FG; 1-4 (25%) on 3s; 12-17 (71%) FT.  He averaged 3 reb; 3 asst; 1 TO; 2 stl.   He had a total of 16 assists to just 6 turnovers.

Couple of quick conclusions from a very limited sample.  1)  He takes care of the ball; 2) he's not a 3-point shooter; 3)  he gets to and can finish at the rim.

Whereas, it took the real Tom Crean about 90 secs of 1 viewing to know Grant Gelon COULD play.

Sounds about like Max Hoetzel/Montana.   I don’t think he saw him in game action once.  I flipped my lid on the Grant Gelon recruitment and argued for months with his defenders.

I’m not sure Crean even watched him play.

Also not sure if that’s better or worse.
