Hoosiers go down in order to in the 5th all via strikeout and Goodin sets the Terps down in order.  Heckuva pitcher's duel going on in College Park.

Brooke Benson draws a leadoff walk to open the IU 6th.  Taylor Lambert then beat out a bunt to put runners on 1st and 2nd with no outs and Gabbi Jenkins does likewise to load the bases.  Grayson Radcliffe with an infield grounder but Maryland gets the force out at the plate.  Bella Norton gets a fielder's choice that scores the first IU run of the day and bases still loaded with 1 out.  Grace Lorsung drives in another run to make it a 2-0 Hoosier lead going to the Terp half of the 6th.  And the Terps go down in order.

2-0 Hoosier lead after 6 complete innings.

NO HITTER!

Goodin gets 3 ground outs in the 7th and finishes with a no hitter.  She struck out 6 and walked 2.  Hoosiers have now won 16 of their last 21 and in large part it's due to just how well she's been pitching.  Hoosiers finished with 5 hits, no errors and left 5 on base.  Final score was 2-0.

Maryland jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead in the first inning on a wild pitch from Goodin.   Hoosiers got the run back in the top of the 6th on a Gabbi Jenkins double driving in Taylor Lambert who'd reach base on a Terp error.

In the bottom of the 6th, an IU error, an infield hit and a walk loaded the bases with one out.  A Terp single scored 2 and give the Terps a 3-1 lead with 2 runners still on base.  A ground out and a K got us out of the inning without any more damage.

The Jenkins double was her 18th of the season and is a new IU single season record.

With 2 out in the top of the 7th, Aaliyah Andrews drew a walk but a ground out ends the game with Maryland taking the first game of today's doubleheader 3-1.  Hoosiers only managed 2 hits, committed a costly error and left 3 on base.  Goodin went the distance but her first of 2 wild pitches on the day allowed the Terps to take a quick 1-0 lead.   For the game, she gave up 3 hits, struck out 4 and walked 1.  Second game expected to start at 4:30.

Game #2 starting off on a bad note.  After pitching game #1 in its entirety, Coach Stanton opts to start Goodin in game #2 in place of Natalie Foor and the Terps take a quick 2-0 lead with the first 2 Terp batters hitting singles coupled with an IU error.  Before she gets the first out, Goodin is replaced by Foor on the mound who gets us out of the inning without further damage.

After an inning, Maryland leads 2-0.  Curious about Stanton's decision to start Goodin.

This game never got any better and we're now on a 2-game losing streak.  Final in game #2 was 5-0.  We had 6 hits, committed an error and left 7 on base.  Foor lasted 3.1 innings and gave up 2 runs; Montgomery pitched 1 and also gave up a run.  Linton pitched the final 1.2 and didn't allow any hits or runs.  Try again tomorrow.

Hoosiers got back in the win column today beating Maryland 3-2 and thus split the 4-game weekend series.  Hoosiers had 7 hits, committed an error and left 5 on base.  They got 2 runs in the 4th, the first a solo HR from Gabbi Jenkins and later an rbi fielders choice by Baez that scored Bella Norton.  Terps scored their 2 in the bottom of the 4th but the Hoosiers scored again in the 6th on an rbi single by Grace Lorsung.  Goodin went the distance but gave up 10 hits (all singles), struck out 6 and walked 1.

This weekend concludes the '21 season for the women and they finish with a record of 25-19.

Once again we fail to make the tournament. Big Ten only got Michigan, Northwestern, and Minnesota in the tournament.

Always wonder if it would have played out differently had we swept the Terps and finished out the season winning 19 of our last 24.

Last Big Ten title: 1994

Last college world series appearance: 1986

Last NCCAA tournament appearance: 2011 with the best Indiana high school I have ever seen transferred to IU from Fresno State
