Extra innings for game #1.

Hoosiers scored a run in the first inning on a Bella Norton double driving in Grayson Radcliffe.  Through 6 innings, Emily Goodin again this weekend in total command only giving up 3 hits.  But in the 7th, she walked a PSU batter who then scored on a triple to tie it up at 1-1.  In our half of the 7th, we put a runner on 1st with one out but left her stranded.

And just like that, Hoosiers win 2-1 on a solo HR by Gabbi Jenkins in the bottom of the 8th.  Hoosiers scored 2 runs on 5 hits, committed 2 errors and left 5 on base.   Goodin pitched all 8 innings allowing 4 hits, walked 2 and struck out 7.  Second game of today's doubleheader expected to start at 5:30.

We were tied at 1-1 thru 4 innings but PSU added 3 in the 5th

Natalie Foor started but only lasted 1.2 innings giving up a run on 2 hits (one a solo HR), walked 1 and hit a batter.  Macy Montgomery took over lasting only 2.2 innings giving up 3 hits but one was a 2-run HR and she walked 2.  Amber Linton took over in the 5th and got us out of the inning but Hoosiers trail 4-1 going into the bottom of the 5th.

From Jon Blau on Gabbi Jenkins HR in today's first game.

What's really cool about this:  This is senior Gabbi Jenkins' first career homer.  She was a slapper coming into college.  Not a power hitter.  She had nine doubles in her first three seasons.  But, coming into today, she has 20 in the '20 and '21 seasons combined.

Game got out of hand in the 6th as PSU scored two more and now lead 6-1.  Natalie Foor back on the mound taking over from Amber Linton.  PSU with 8 hits in the game but two of them were HR and 2 were doubles.

In the bottom of the 6th a Lambert solo HR cut the PSU lead to 6-2.   Then after putting 2 on base, Micah Schroeder lined a pinch hit double to right center to make it 6-4 but we couldn't keep the rally going.  PSU leads 6-4 heading into the final inning.

PSU gets a solo HR in the 7th to make it 7-4.   In our last at bat, we get runners on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out.  Grayson Radcliffe doubles 1 run in to make it 7-5 and we keep runners on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out.  Bella Norton gets a pinch hit single to load the bases as we hold our runners.   Grace Lorsung singles down the left field line driving in 2 runs and ties it  up at 7-7 with Hoosier runners on 1st and 2nd and 1 out.  Micah Schroeder draws a walk and bases are loaded again for Annika Baez who lofts one to center field allowing Norton to score on the sac. fly and Hoosiers win 8-7.  What a magnificent come-from-behind win scoring 4 runs in the bottom of the 7th to sweep today's doubleheader.  No quit in these women.

Goodin still pitching well through 5 innings.  She gave up a single in the 5th and ultimately a Grayson Radcliffe error allowed that runner to score to make it a 2-1 game with Hoosiers batting in the 5th.  Bella Norton led off our 5th with a single and promptly stole 2nd.  Grace Lorsung followed with a double and we got the run back and lead 3-1 with a runner on 2nd and no outs.  A wild pitch advanced Lorsung to 3rd with 1 out.  With 2 outs, Katie Lacefield doubled scoring Lorsung and it's a 4-1 Hoosier lead after 5 complete innings.  Hoosiers have 12 hits but have left 7 runners on base.

It's all IU after 2 innings in game #2.

Hoosiers lead 10-0 on a Bella Norton 2-run HR in the 1st inning and they piled on 8 more runs in the 2nd starting with an Annika Baez solo HR.  Following the Baez HR, Hoosiers loaded the bases and a Grayson Radcliffe sac. fly made it 4-0.  Bella Norton walked to load the bases for Grace Lorsung who doubled to left center to drive in 2 more runs and it's 6-0 with runners on 2nd and 3rd.  Micah Schroeder gets a pinch hit single to make it 8-0.  Baez follows with a single to keep 2 IU runners on the bases.  Brittany Ford pinch hits for Katie Lacefield and she bangs a double to right center and it's 10-0 after 2 innings.  Hoosiers already with 9 hits; 4 of which for extra bases.

Coach Stanton sticking with Emily Goodin who has been a workhorse these past 2 weekends.

17-0 final score.  Yes, you read that correctly 17-0 as the Hoosier women kicked the crap out of PSU pitching today banging out 19 hits that included 4 HR and 5 doubles and they've now won 7 of their last 8 games and sweep the PSU series.  10 different players had at least 1 hit and 7 had 2 apiece.  After leading 10-0 after 2 innings the women scored 3 more in the 3rd and 4 more in the 4th

Goodin pitched 4 innings allowing just 3 singles; didn't walk a batter and struck out 3.  She has been phenomenal over the last 2 weekends.  Macy Montgomery pitched the final inning and preserved the shutout.

Regular season concludes next weekend with a road trip to College Park, MD.
