Class of '66 Old Fart

IU Baseball vs Minnesota - 4/23 and 4/25 - BTN+

Recommended Posts

Michigan lost, Nebraska won, Iowa plays tonight. Right now we caught Michigan and will be 1.5 behind Nebraska heading into next weekend. Right now we are 2.5 clear of Iowa, but they have two more games this weekend so could be 1.5, 2.5 or 3.5 back depending on how they do against Northwestern in next two games. Either way with the Hawkeyes in next weekend, we can put them away by taking 2 of 3 no matter what they do against the Cats.

Also, we have now played the Bottom seven teams in the conference and went 18-4 (plus the four game sweep of OSU who is in top seven). Now we play the top seven to close the season in what will make or break the season. If we can take the multiple three game series we have and three of four in the two pods, we should win the conference. That would make us 30-13 and probably win the conference. If we split the pods 28-15 probably gets us second or third. Either way our RPI should start to sky rocket as we play the teams with the strong RPI's the rest of the way.

Why are we going to play Nebraska in New Jersey?

There are pods, at times, built into the schedule this year. That weekend we play 2 against NU and RU... and RU plays 2 against IU and NU, NU playing two against RU and IU. If that made sense.

The first weekend of the year we did that against RU and Minny. Just the best way to get so many games in a short span. There are 13 baseball playing teams in the B1G, so one team would be left out if they just went with regular 3 game series across the board.
