....then we will have issues with not being able to walk, potentially cut tendons and serious nerve damage... I think I would still take him in a wheelchair, as long as it was temporary....( no offense to wheelchair users out there, merely an improbable visual analogy)....lol

I mean he had shoes on during the game earlier. Walking over glass seems like a pretty easy hurdle tbh.

So do "we" really believe that Archie didn't succeed because he didn't care enough? That IU history wasn't important to him? What about Tom "It's Indiana" Crean? These guys are competitors. Have huge egos. I am all for IU tradition but the issue isn't "caring" enough. We need capable coaches that can bring in good players and get them to execute. Archie couldn't. Crean only could 1/2 the time. Sampson couldn't do it within the rules.
Michael Lewis hasn't ever been a Head-coach and we're gonna hand him the keys because he was a very good player and still cares? I can't get on board with that. That is ok if you are desperate, low-level program, but not IU.
Brad Stevens to.......Michael Lewis? SMH.

Can’t say this about Arch... dunno what happened there for sure, but Crean’s ego would not allow him to learn or grow in the job... he was always the smartest guy in the room in his own mind...

The difference Lewis is tough, gritty and smart. He’s paid his dues and seems to be willing to learn. He has none of Crean’s arrogance. Could make a huge difference in the outcome.

Many have mentioned hiring one of the older coaches and letting Lewis be the coach in waiting. What about hiring Lewis as the head coach and seeing if one of the older coaches could be his assistant?

And that is compelling, but Fitzgerald has shown he knows what to do with those guys once they arrive on campus. He also has handled all the other aspects of the job. Can Lewis? Maybe? Probably? We don't know because from what I can tell he's never even been the head coach of a High School team, let alone a major college program. That matters. I am not anti-Lewis and if we are talking as an ASSITANT, I am 110% behind it. But for HC it would be a horrible, horrible decision.

I appreciate your opinion, but he has been a assistant coach for a long time with some of the best coaches out there. I think he can handle it he will have several people there to help.

Or we could hire someone that can do the job themselves and doesn't need a baby-sitter.

Sounds harsh, but why would IU hire someone that isn't capable of the job already?

Yes...they should!

If you like the way Beard presents himself, you’ll probably like Mike from Jasper just as much.

He’s been a real success as an assistant at high level programs; definitely a wild card but we could do a lot worse.

Interview starts at the one hour, five minute mark:

Thanks! Good listen!

History. It repeats itself. Davis. Sampson. Crean. Miller.

It’s been over two days since someone posted in this thread.

In my opinion, this thread has not gotten nearly enough attention.

I thought you were transferring. WTH??  Oh, I mean exploring...

I honestly wouldn't mind seeing Lewis get the gig. He's a competitor man and I think he'll be good wherever he gets his shot as a HC.

I agree. I think he has the intelligence and temperament to do really well.
