But they did beat Illinois. In fact, they buried Illinois...and oh by the way, a #1 seed. And they ran them off the court. If I remember correctly a bunch of posters (not you) liked the way ILL played fast all season.

Loyola was 24-4 or something like that. Only lost 4 all season. We lost 4 in 10 days...some to inferior teams. I don't care who you are, if you're 24-4 in D1 ball, you're worth looking at.

IMO Loyola plays a style of BBall that nost IU fans would enjoy, IF Moser can instill it in this team. He might need to do a roster gut and hit the transfer market to get the right guys for his style. But I sure like their style of play a helluva lot more than what we've seen for the past 4 years, and maybe the last 20 yrs.

This board lit up during the ULC vs ILL game. I know, cause I was on it. Virtually everyone was impressed with their play.

I don't love the style. I hated how slow Archie's teams play and Loyola plays even slower. Moser's teams play much different than what Dolson said he was looking for in his presser.

until 4 years ago he was 194-206 with literally 0 NCAA tournaments in 13 years and no conference championships. His highest finish in conference until 4 years ago was 5th!

Enter Cameron Krutwig and he goes 99-35 in four years. 2 great years and 2 very mediocre years.

PASS

Yeah, but Cameron Krutwig is a 6'9" fat center with a pornstache who won't be playing in the league next year.  Give him a little bit of due for maximizing what talent he had.

Evidently we can throw out mediocre coaching records for some candidates, but it's normally reserved for those who went to IU.

Somehow they'll magically improve when they get back to Bloomington.

Huh? I have never advocated for anyone with a mediocre coaching record.

Give Krutwig due? He is a hell of a player. I am giving Krutwig all the credit for Porter Moser's success

You reference the porn stache like that’s somehow a negative quality.

I’m going to need you to put yourself in timeout to re-evaluate your standards.

Give Moser some due for landing Krutwig utilizing every bit of his talent.  Not every coach would have done that.

FWIW, I am on record saying I do not want Moser for the reasons you had said, but I don't think you can simply mark this down as Krutwig being solely responsible for Loyala's success.  He's not Larry Bird at Indiana State.

yes I know I am overstating Krutwig's role in their success. But I can't overstate how much I don't want Porter Moser.

I don't pretend to know a great deal about the NBA but with the Bulls landing Vucevic, strong case can be made Stevens now coaches at best the sixth most talented team in the East:

1. Nets

2. Bucks

3. 76ers

4. Heat

5. Bulls

6. CELTICS

That CANNOT give him the warm and fuzzies.

This again is where we can into trouble. To be prisoners of the moment. A week ago he wouldn't have been in many people's top 10 lists and now since he's made a run to the S16 he's become the flavor of the week. Could it work out? Sure. Is it a good decision? I don't think so as it would be based off of 2 tourney runs over 17 years.

Something to be said about a coach that failed early, went and worked under Majerus and changed his whole coaching outlook.  People want coaches to adapt and here is an example of a coach doing that.   If IU hired him they would be hiring the new version and not the fired Illinois St coach.   Not saying he is the top choice but I would be willing to give him a chance.  He definitely wouldn’t win the press conference I’m guessing but then again that might be a good thing in the long run

Pretty good chance Celtics miss playoffs now. Levert back for Pacers and Bulls with a nice pickup on the trade. Potential for Celtics to finish 9th or 10th.

Bringing in a guy who has made 2 tournaments in 17 years to fix a program that has made 4 tournaments in the past 13 years would be a disaster. We need a major hire. Our program looks like a joke to outsiders. The only way to change that is to make a serious hire. Hire Chris Beard or Scott Drew? Ok, they have things figured out. Hire Calbert Cheaney or Porter Moser? Not so much.

They have play-in games for 7-10 seeds this year

NBA has a playoff for the 8 seed now so places 8-10 all have opportunity. That being said I think the Pacers with a healthy Levert and the Bulls got better today while Celtics at most only slightly got better. They’ll still have an opportunity to play for the playoffs even if falling to 10

All those years the Celtics had the Nets' lottery pick, and the Nets are above them now. Celtics fans can't be too happy with that. Not to mention they gave up the last pick for a player who's now playing for the Nets (Irving).

I will give anyone a chance and root for them but I'm of the belief that a tourney run shouldn't all of a sudden elevate you to the top if just a week ago you weren't even close to that. Just seems hasty and short sighted. Kind of where I'm at with Musselman as well tbh.
