If I was a prominent/successful head coach I’d be hesitant (as in no way in hell) to take a job in which the AD forces an assistant on me.

I agree with you, if it's Stevens. If it's Belein I could see it as a condition. If it were me, I'd raise holy hell too, but...in order to get the job, I'd have to consider it. Still has the ability to name several of his "own guys". 

But you're probably right. Just putting forth a theory.

I love Beilein, he looks just like my late uncle.  But he's not our guy.  

Can't say it any better, if your thinking Beilien......then to me Matta is the better option if we go down that far.  Barring he is healthy now, hell he's only 53 years old and same pedigree as Beilein.
