IUc2016

NCAA MBB Transfer Portal

I hear you in this but according to Rabby he believed he was 100% IU and the staff did too until today smh
Why didn't staff go and see him and up whatever he was getting from Tennessee? At least make a push and seem like he was priority. Maybe we did, who knows?

Hold up… when I was saying we needed more than 2 and that DeLoach still made sense, everyone said we didn’t. So now we do?  Maybe you were not one of those.

I think this is a big miss and no matter what is said the real reasons won’t come out. This is a very, very, very, odd one.

We needed more than the 2 bigs we've gotten.  In other words we needed wing and guard help too.

So what kind of offense are we going to run next season? A lot of talks about how Woodson didn’t want to run the kind of offense he did but had to because of TJD/Race. But the only portal players we’ve landed are bigs. We have a big weakness on the perimeter. Shooting is a big concern. Things aren’t looking great.

The shooting issues would still be there if Ledlum had signed as he's not a great shooter.  My expectation was that Ware would likely shoot a higher percentage from three than Ledlum was going to.  That said, Ledlum looked to be a known scorer and bulldog.

I do think the staff needs to identify some specialists, particularly a shooter.  Doesn't even need to be a starter who is going to play 30 minutes.  We have a spot for a shooter who can come off the bench and knock down some shots......fill a Tamar Bates spot BUT be able to knock shots down.

Exactly, we just need to be patience and wait a bit longer. Woody is a winner and will get it done. What Davis, Sampson, Crean, and Archie did to this program will take a lot longer than a few years for Woody to turn it around. Pretty sure there hasn't been a new coach to come into a program over the last few years and do better than Woody. Just needs the time.

I'm sorry, if we hired someone Woodson's age expecting a mutil year rebuild than someone screwed up.  At his age you expect the shop to get rightened pretty quick.

Exactly, we should've set up an in home as soon as Tenn. did. It's like we're not putting in the effort when we need it. I'm worried Ware will end up changing his mind and go somewhere else. We need scoring, so let's go get it.

There is just a ton of $$ in the SEC unfortunately (I know B!G teams do well too)...

We'll see how next season plays out but Woody has a chance to get us to three consecutive tourneys for the first time in 15 years. We have to take baby steps as a program and can't expect to take jumps like other programs. Just making the tourney next season would be a huge accomplishment for this program. We shouldn't worry about making it all the way to a Sweet 16 or anything like that. There are other coaches who are close to 100 still in the game. Woody has as long as he'd like to continue to undo what Archie, Crean, Sampson, and the other coaches did to this program.

Can we really expect to do more when Archie was the coach here several years ago? It's not like Woody can go out into free agency and get the players he needs to win now.

I’d say it’s proving that even with a top 10 Nil, an NBA coach, and a historic blueblood program with lots of other perks we aren’t elite recruiters.

ive always wanted a spot at the table.  I guess the only thing we are missing is recent winning history.  But by the time we achieve that, IF we achieve that Woody is gone.

I’d say serious questions need to be asked what’s the missing ingredient?  Arkansas grabs 10 starters every year with a winning history?  Things just don’t add up.  Maybe Woody’s hands off recruiting approach isn’t enough. Idk.  Questions.

I know our fanbase gave up on Geronimo and Bates but I’d take those guys back in a heartbeat over the scraps left in the portal right now. I think both of their potential far outweighs how they were playing in our system. Time will tell.

Besides Cleveland, Knecht.  But over pretty much everyone else.

was thinking definitive upgrades were in store.

Rabjohns said 6-7 guys rumored to still hit the portal that may or may not that IU could be interested in. Sounds like Rabjohns talk to me, but we need some hope somewhere.

We’ve already concluded that Rabby doesn’t know squat.  His credibility is most likely shot!

To add to this, Kansas State only had two players last July and they made it all the way to the elite eight.

I wish nothing but the best for former Hoosiers but Geronimo and/or Bates having really good season might not be a great look. Having JHS and TJD get drafted is nice to point towards but having players transfer out and improve is tough. I was pretty impressed with Hunter accepting his role at Xavier and playing decent down the stretch. Durham got a lot of buzz the season he left IU too.

But they were in a much better place than what Archie left for Woody. We only had like TJD, Race, and a few others.

I had a little more hope on Bates than Geronimo, low standard though as I've said repeatedly Geronimo is an athlete on a basketball court not a basketball player and after his junior year I think he is what he is.

Cleveland would add some slashing from the wing like Ledlum would have and looks a little more athletic.  We reached out but that doesn't mean much.

Recruiting is funny.

Rabjohns felt good about Ledlum because he was still answering our calls. He said Clowney stopped taking our calls, that’s why they knew we were out. Lol.

That’s how I used to gauge girls interest in middle school. Lol. Tried a true method.
