What can a coach say to a QB at half to get them out of their funk?

Not sure what he can say but you can call a bubble screen, middle screen, pass to the flat; something just so he can get a few easy completions under his belt

Part of the problem has been really bad field position and add to that, Maryland has hurried Penix and that is his achilles heel.

That's part of it but Penix hasn't even given his receivers a chance to catch the ball.  He's had a number of throws he could step into and has thrown it off his back leg.  That's not Maryland's defense but him just trying to flick the ball.  It's not working today and he needs to correct it.  That's a sign of a good consistent quarterback.

Why would we run the ball with the weakest offensive line in the Big Ten?

At this point, that's the only thing that has worked.  Can't imagine what that half would have looked like with unable to run the ball.

Anyway, have to stop just having Penix sit back in the pocket and fling it downfield.  ANY creativity would suffice.

Haven't you been watching the game? We're actually running it pretty decent today. Penix is 2-15 passing for 37 yards.

I think he was being sarcastic.
