Let that enthusiasm flow- this is the place and now is the time! Besides no one will remember what we write in a few days let alone 18 mos :)

I am excited by this commitment too. One of the most aggravating aspects of the under-achieving over the last 20+ yrs has been most of the time IU has talent. But often with gaping holes in the roster (you all know what I mean, great shooting/no defense, good guards/no post size, no point guards, no leaders, no zone offense...always SOMETHING fundamental missing) This year and now next season is starting to feel like well-rounded teams, not just with random 'talent' like Noah Vonleh or Romeo, but the RIGHT talent. The drought has gone on long enough, it's time for IU to earn it's rightful place atop the big ten and national stage again.

Spot on!

Marshall Strickland was ranked ridiculously high.  I can remember he and Bracey being the #2 point guard and #2 shooting guard in the nation when they signed

Deron Williams at #100 ended up being considerably better at both the NCAA and NBA level than either of them.

If you're not counting Bates, and if you mean the highest rated recruit from out of state who committed, then yes.

Rankings are good and all, but seeing Tom Pritchard ahead of Vic... Lol, can only take rankings so far

Bates was 30th nationally, and Jalen is 23rd...

Who said Woodson wouldn't be able to recruit. And out of state too.

Holy cow I'm likin' it.

The guys who questioned his ability to recruit completely whiffed on his NBA pedigree and all that goes with it.

Agreed. But I also think his personality goes a long long way too with kids.

And have to give the admin props for the entire wrap around staff.

I'd love to see another 5 star pop before the end of the year.

This is a huge point. Woody is just really damn cool. He’ll be the “uncle” in recruiting and that’ll go a long way with a lot of kids.

He just seems so likeable and genuine. But "sure" of things at the same time. Can be soft spoken, or stern/direct. Humble, yet confident. Mature, but also fun.

Kind of guy I'd love to have beers or a scotch with.

Listening to his opening press conference, I thought this same thing, but also that his personality might go even farther with the parents, which could be even more important. On a similar note, the guy could have a serious side hustle recording ASMR videos.

Why isn't JHS a 5 star? He's in the top 25.

He's really close and I imagine he will get upgraded to a 5-star at some point during his senior year.  5 stars start at 0.9900 in the 247 composite and JHS is currently at 0.9891.

Just checked out 247.

As of right now, the composite rating is 5 star, 0.9907, and is 24th overall. I think they recently updated.

His 247 rating is 97, and he's 24th there too.

Rivals has him ranked 20th, but he's still a 4 Star. The 19th ranked player is a 5 Star, so he's right on the edge.

ESPN has him 32nd, grade is 88, and a 4 Star.

The other prospects much have even greater ranges if Jalen's 24+20+32 equates to a 24th composite

Rob Cassidy after the latest Rivals rankings announced.

Movement: Up from No. 32 to No. 20 overall

The lowdown: Hood-Schifino has added a load of lean muscle over the past year and already knows how to use his strength to get to the bucket. These days, the 6-foot-5 guard has the physicality to go along with his plus ball handling and an ability to get to his spots, in addition to his knack for finishing in traffic. His reshaped body has also helped him on the defensive end, where he’s one of the more positionally versatile defenders among the guards in this class. He seems to be a nice fit in the Big Ten, which makes sense, considering he recently committed to Indiana.

Where he might land: Hood-Schifino is committed to Indiana.

You have spoken it into existence. JHS is now at .9907 and officially a 247 composite 5-star.
