The comparison is striking both in size and playing style.

I hope Race will take a big leap this season.  But Daryl Thomas was a McDonald's All American, a four year starter, and helped lead IU to a national championship.  So any comparison between Race and Daryl is a bit of a stretch. But Race can be a very good player.

Daryl was a Burger boy, but did not have next level length or athleticism. These days that’s what it takes to be a Burger Boy.

Daryl and Race have a very similar build and style of play. Daryl was so good at creating space around the rim, Race probably won’t reach that level. However, RMK would never have let Daryl shoot a three, and Race has a pretty good looking stroke out there that should translate as his minutes continue to rise.Daryl was better (so far) but Race has two years left at IU.

Also, fwiw:

In his sophomore year at IU Daryl averaged 5.5 points and 2.6 rebounds in 15.0 minutes per game.

In his sophomore year at IU Race averaged 3.7 points and 3.9 rebounds in 13.6 minutes per game. Pretty comparable.

Listened to Fisch's podcast with Archie and I've seen more than one story about how he keeps saying he likes this team's chemistry, how it's a fun group and how everyone likes each other and gets along. 

Makes you wonder how relieved he is that someone else will be wearing No. 3 this season ...

Number 3 was really tough for culture.

Number 11 and number 20 were tricky off the court, and pretty hard to deal with on the court at times.

another note on the video, it seemed that Archie indicated IU would try to play a game before they went to asheville for the "Maui Invitational". Will be interesting as the season opens up November 25th which is only 5 days before the tournament starts.

Durham's stroke is night and day over that pretzel body position he had as a Fr. Never gonna be JBJ, but that looks like a shot you expect to go in.

They're working out at AH. I thought they practiced at Cook ... Was good to see TJD taking some shots from outside. He's gonna be so much more effective if he can hit from 20 feet or so consistently. I don't recall him last season making anything farther than a free throw.

I believe it was the Minnesota game that he hit one or two from outside. I recall about 3 all season, most at the end of shot clocks.
