Class of '66 Old Fart

(2022) - SF Alex Karaban to UConn

Recommended Posts

Unable to watch either of his weekend games against Brewster Academy.  On Friday, Brewster defeated New Hampton 97-78.  Karaban 21 pts.  Yesterday, same results 84-75.  Karaban 33 pts.   Don't know about this season but Brewster is typically an exceptionally strong team.

Doesn't really matter does it, if we fire Archie this kid drops IU. He's only connected to us because of Hunter

This will be the stage of recruiting we’re in for the next 13 or so months, don’t mean to take the other threads into here but kind of a good summary of the near future for us Hoosier fans.

His first couple of games were streamed and then they stopped so details on his game performances have become limited.  On Friday, New Hampton defeated Holderness 91-58.  Karaban was the leading scorer with 22.  On Saturday, New Hampton lost to Holderness 65-62.  Karaban 32 pts.

There was an event called Northeast Hoop Fest played this past weekend that involved close to 60 teams playing at multiple locations throughout Massachusetts.   Haven't found any kind of individual game info but Karaban, playing on his Expressions Elite AAU team, was named to the varsity level all-tournament team.

Trent Markwith of Relentless Hoops:  Alex Karaban finished off #MidwestMania with 26 points to help Expressions get a win. It had been over a year since I last saw him live, but he’s as productive as ever & has become more proficient with his 3-point shot. Matchup nightmare. He’ll be a big help at IMG next winter.

IU has to make up ground in this one if they want to be a serious contender. They've been in contact and recruiting him but he hasn't been a priority. The IMG move doesn't make much of a difference and he's also going to play on their post grad team too fwiw.

Travis Branham on Karaban from this past weekend's KC Classic -

Northeast power forward Alex Karaban showcases his skillset and feel.

The northeast, like the west, has gone largely unseen the past year due to the pandemic shutdowns but Alex Karaban came out this weekend and displayed why high majors are in pursuit.  The 6-foot-7, 190-pound forward out of New Hampton (N.H.) School is skilled, tough and has a good feel and IQ for the game.

He has a face-up game to him, can make shots out to three, finishes through contact and is a good passer for the position. Karaban is an impactful glue-guy for the Expressions program and is currently ranked as the No. 126 overall prospect in the 2022 class.
