Coronavirus and Its Impact

Previously we weren’t seeing an uptick in deaths despite the increase in cases.....looks like it could just have been the lag between positive test increases and death counts.  Last three days have been upticks and our totals the last three days are our highest in a month.

Calling it now, somewhere in the bowels of social media in the next few weeks, someone will comment that the only reason more people are dying is because of more testing.

That combined with the tests being more spread out thru the country so no healthcare system was being overrun.  Where when death tolls were huge before like 80% of cases were in 5 states and in relatively small areas of those state’s.

Someone somewhere will call it a conspiracy.

New high number of cases by 10,000 over Wednesday’s high as we have topped 71,000...and it’s not just increased testing.  Number of deaths increasing as well as the rolling seven day average of deaths has increased over 20% in just one week.

I am trying to watch an incredibly entertaining Frank Zappa video during which Frank places a giant bag over Yoko Ono’s head during a performance of his song “Scumbag,” and this thread is an unwelcome distraction.

Sad thing is we really haven't even gotten a handle on this thing yet.  I had an interview at a hospital yesterday and this virus came up, they said what makes it so difficult to get a handle on this is everything that's spinning off of it.

This isn't just a respiratory disease, it's effecting pretty well every major system and it's even been seen to cause clotting complications in younger patients.

And it’s not doing anything to a lot of people.  I hope they figure out the genetics of this thing so they can identify those most at risk.
