Trevor Andershock reporting Jaden Schutt a 6'5" SG attending Yorkville Christian HS in Yorkville, IL is on the IU radar.  Details are behind a paywall but here's some additional background on Schutt.  Plays AAU for Illinois Wolves on the UAA circuit.

March '21 Game Story

Commentary from last weekend' AAU event:

The leading scorer in the Stars matchup with 20 points, Schutt can put up points in bunches and looked like he was out to make a statement in this particular game. He was locked in & aggressive from the start, displaying his high-level shot-making ability throughout. Already having good size at 6’5”, Schutt pairs that with good, quick elevation on his jumper that allows him to get off and hit shots even with little space. He plays with a bit of an edge to him and came through with some big jumpers that helped to energize the team. His 3-point shooting will be most coveted, but Schutt is also a good 1-foot leaper in space, is effective attacking closeouts and getting to mid-range spots, and doesn’t shy away from contact at the basket. It is easy to see why he is heavily recruited; things took off for him last summer and after they went quiet for a while, Penn State, Providence, & Minnesota have all extended offers this spring. Given the guys I’ve seen in the Southeast and other regions, Schutt looked like a prospect who clearly deserves to be within the Top 100 nationally.

Trent Markwith - 2022 SG Jaden Schutt reeled off some impressive scoring spurts today and ended with a 20-point outing to beat the Georgia Stars. Elite shooter with quick-twitch athleticism & can stop on a dime to rise up over defenders. Really pretty shot. Competitive.

Fife was recruiting him while he was at MSU.

Didn't think Leland Walker was still on our radar.

Mike Schumann @ The Daily Hoosier @daily_hoosier:   Walker is one of the best I’ve seen in 2022 class at finishing through contact. Caught up with him after this game, he continues to hear from IUBB.

Trent Markwith of Relentless Hoops:  Leland Walker played a well-rounded game & was hard to stop off the dribble against Meanstreets.  He’s fast & creative when attacking and did a good job of knowing when to score or kick out.  Has a package of soft floaters and unique ability to hang & adjust to finish.

This past HS season he averaged 20ppg / 4apg / 2spg

On the radar but not a priority recruit.  Things can change though.

Eric Bossi from Friday's Hensley Run-N-Slam event.

Talk about explosive, three-star combo guard Leland Walker looks like he’s been shot out of a cannon when he gets downhill and looks to elevate in traffic. The six-footer for Team Teague is stronger than you think and he puts a lot of pressure on you to be ready to help if you aren’t his primary defender because the first guy, he’s blowing by him. Walker had initially planned to commit early, but things seem to have opened up now. Indiana is going to monitor him, Xavier has been on him for a while, Providence was in the mix during the winter while Cincinnati, among many others, will be involved.

SF Leon Bond of Wauwatosa HS in Milwaukee surfaced towards the end of the Miller regime.

This tweet from Mike Schumann today:  Bond was one of the more impressive players I saw today.  He told me he hasn't heard from #iubb since the coaching staff changed, but I'd be surprised if he doesn't see a new wave of high majors enter the mix. Impressive skill, length, motor and athleticism.

Then this from Eric Bossi and his comments from Friday night's Hensley Run-N-Slam event --

When I first saw unranked small forward Leon Bond in person a month ago, I wrote that the rising senior from Wauwatosa (Wisc.) East was going to end up a high major target.  Since then, players reclassifying made it so we were at least able to move the 6-foot-5 wing into very back end of the 247Sports top 150.  When we do a full update, though, Bond is going to be a four-star and it will just be a matter of how highly he will be ranked in that range.

Playing with JH1 Elite, Bond looked even better than he did the last time I saw him.  He’s a boss rebounder, defender and above all a competitor.  Those attributes alone are worthy of high-level looks, but Bond brings a lot more to the table.  The guy has a tremendous feel for the game, makes good reads, is a sneaky good ball handler and above all seems to make the right basketball play every time.

Bond got his first high major offer from Virginia Tech and they deserve credit for being ahead of the pack on this one because more will come.  Bond told me that things hadn’t gotten too crazy yet this spring, but Butler and hometown Marquette are both trying to get him on campus as soon as the dead period ends at the beginning of June and Indiana is among those who have been in contact.

Assuming there is some type of high school sanctioned event for him to play in when coaches can get back out in June, they’ll want to see him.

No idea how much interest we're showing in Comer.

Trevor Andershock - Cathedral’s Tayshawn Comer produced in each area as Indy Heat 17U beat Kingdom Hoops. Early on, the point guard drove to the basket with ease. Once he was there, Comer finished with high arching shots and layups.  Comer’s outside shot continues to develop. He nailed a couple of contested shots in the victory. His overall game is progressing well.

Trent Markwith of Relentless Hoops --  Tayshawn Comer attacked early & often to help Indy Heat build a 20-point 1st half lead this morning. Got himself going from deep first and used his strength & quickness to make things happen in the lane. Looked like he was out to make a statement against another good PG.

Trevor Andershock - On the other end of the floor, Team Teague fielded many strong performances. North Central’s Leland Walker lived in the lane. He is so quick off the dribble and has excellent handles. Walker made fast players look slow-footed. He finished once he reached the paint as well.

Article on Jaden Schutt of Yorkville, IL.  Good news for us is that Fife was already in contact with him while still at MSU so we're not totally starting his recruitment at ground zero.

Schutt said while Indiana has entered his recruitment a little late, it is a school he would “for sure” consider visiting in some capacity, whether official or unofficial, and if the Hoosiers push hard, they’ve got a shot.  “I wouldn’t count them out,” Schutt said of Indiana.

If I'm reading this correctly some took a big jump in the wrong direction? Like Banks. Filipowski, Trimble, and others. Wonder why that is the case?

That's not how the 247 rankings work. The 247sports Composite is a combination of 247, ESPN, and Rivals rankings. The 247sports is just 247s staff's ranking of the players. The 2022 rankings haven't been updated in a while. The 2021 rankings were the only ones updated.

looks like IU offered

It's about time IU started going after "Top Shelf" 7 footers...... well, at least with this new coaching staff, we know Coach Woodson and Co. are going after players of his size.

I can’t like this enough. I’ve been begging for a legit, rim protecting big forever.

Recruiting seems so promising based on offers. Now we need to land the guys. So many fantastic offers out there.

It's also about time we offered a guy named "Vince."
