IU has the same problem they did last year along with the basketball team in that they cannot score at a high level.

Their defense is very good and their floor is substantially higher as result. However, to get to the tournament again like they want their offense needs to be much better.

Scoring only one goal each against mediocre Valpo and UT Martin doesn't bode well unless some changes are made and IU will need to win a lot of 1-0 games (which they are capable of potentially) which is a lot to ask once Big Ten play starts.

No score at the half in Memphis where the temp is in the low 90's and the dreaded heat index is in triple digits.

SCOUTING WESTERN MICHIGAN
The Broncos are 2-2 on the season and are coming off a 4-0 win against IUPUI on Sunday. WMU also had a 5-1 victory against Detroit Mercy. Their two defeats come against Michigan (4-0) and Louisville (6-2). The Broncos are averaging 10.5 shots per game and have scored 11 goals on the season.

SCOUTING SOUTHEAST MISSOURI STATE

The Redhawks will play at Evansville on Thursday night before making the trip to Bloomington for the Sunday match. SEMO opened their season against Memphis and lost 4-0. They have scored five goals on the season on 33 total shots.

MAKING HISTORY AT NOTRE DAME
For the first time in program history the Hoosiers got a result against Notre Dame. On Sunday the Hoosiers and Fighting Irish battled to a 0-0 draw. Previously the Hoosiers were 0-11 all-time against Notre Dame.

FRESHMEN CONNECTION
In the Hoosiers home opening win over Valpo, it was the freshmen connection of Camille Hamm to Jordyn Levy that provided victory for the Hoosiers. Hamm sent a ball to Levy, who put it away for the game-winning goal.

2021 SPRING SEASON
The 2021 spring season was historic for the Hoosiers. Indiana tied a program record for Big Ten wins and established a new school record for Big Ten points in a season with 19. On March 2, the Hoosiers were ranked in the top-25 for the first time since 2013.

PRESEASON POLL AND HONORS
The Big Ten announced its Women's Soccer Preseason Players to Watch List on Monday with senior Hanna Nemeth, junior Avery Lockwood and freshman Jamie Gerstenberg representing Indiana. In addition, the preseason poll was unveiled with the Hoosiers coming in in sixth place. Both were voted on by the conference coaches.

Lockwood, a midfielder from Grand Rapids, Mich., earned All-Big Ten Third Team honors and was selected by the United Soccer Coaches to the All-North Region third team in the 2021 spring season. Lockwood, a leader for Indiana's offense, scored a couple of game winners against Michigan and Michigan State. She started in all 12 games tallying a total of 24 shots and 15 shots on goal. Nemeth scored her first career goal against Penn State on March 4 and held Indiana's back line strong aiding the Hoosiers four shutouts, including a shutout of Michigan for the first time since 2009.

NEW FACES FOR THE HOOSIERS
The Hoosiers have several new players on the roster that should see playing time this season. Among them are eight freshmen and three transfers. The Hoosiers return their entire starting lineup from the 2021 spring season as well.

TOKYO OLYMPICS
Sophomore Gabi Rennie made the New Zealand national team for the Tokyo Olympics. In New Zealand's first match of the Olympics, against Australia, Rennie entered the game in the 89th minute and two minutes later scored a goal on her only touch of the game. It was extra special for Rennie as her brother Liam, a member of the New Zealand media attended the game.
