Think the big crowd had more to with the weather than the beer. Every other home opener its been freezing and gross out before today.

First ever nice weather on opening day hence the record crowd.

Team rounding into form. IU up 7-0 in 7th. Cincy gifted IU five runs in first with many walks in a row without a hit while IU was just a passenger, but team looking better.

Hayden needs to move to the Saturday spot with Perkins Friday and Mudungo Sunday with how each one is pitching. Let Brehmer have weekdays as I still don't trust hem yet. Gotten to the point where I have confidence in Perkins and Hayden as starters and know Mudungo has it in him. Rest of guys still make me uncomfortable but hopefully may be improving.

After 4 complete, Hoosiers lead 8-4 over the Wildcats.  Both teams scored 4 in the 1st.  Hoosiers added 1 in the 2nd, 2 in the 3rd and 1 in the 4th.  Ellis has 2-HRs and 4 RBIs.  We have 10 total hits.  Hayden started but only lasted 1 inning allowing 4 runs on just 2 hits but one was a solo HR and the other a bases loaded triple sandwiched around 3 BB.  Kraft took over and has pitched no-hit ball thus far.

And in the 5th, Kraft falls apart gives up 3 hits, walks 3, hits a batter.   Stahl takes the mound and the first 2 batters he faces get hits, the first a 3-run double to make it 8-7.  We get 3 back in the bottom of the inning on a Jessee solo HR and a run scoring double by Glasser.  We then loaded the bases with 1 out but Pyne struck out.   Colopy drew a bases loaded walk to make it 11-7, and Mathison ended the inning with a ground out.  Glasser 3-4 on the day with all 3 hits being doubles.  Jesse and Glasser each with 2-RBIs on the day to go with Ellis' 4-RBIs

Stahl falls apart in the 6th and loads the bases for Holderfield with just 1 out.  Stahl faced 7 total batters allowed 4 hits and he hit a batter.  Holderfield bails us out by striking out the first 2 batters he faces to end the Kentucky 6th.

In the bottom of the 6th we again load the bases with 1 out.  Ellis struck out on a wild pitch that scored our 12th run.  Tibbitts followed with a 2-run double and then scored on a Pyne single.  It's 15-7 after 6 innings.  Hoosiers now with 17 hits on the day.

Kentucky goes 3 up, 3 down in the 7th.   Mathison a solo HR for IU in the bottom of the 7th to make it 16-7.

We score 4 more in the 8th and it's 20-7 which is the final score.  Teams combined for 33 hits!  Hoosiers with 23, which includes 9 doubles and 6 home runs.  Our pitching staff gave up 10 hits, 5 walks and hit 3 batters.

IU is doing very well in weekday games since they have a good offense and their back end pitching depth is OK. The problem though is they still don't have good weekend starters (outside Perkins) and when they face top end pitching talent they cannot win the weekend pitching duals.

And those 2 hits plated 6 runs because our pitchers put so many people on base.

Ehh.. one was a dropped foul ball that led to that opportunity. Did you watch the game?

Ryan Kraft was excellent. Kentucky was absolutely dominated.

True FR pitched all but 2 outs.
