Had more than one person tell me the IHSAA and Bobby Cox can do whatever the hell they want. I suppose thats the case. NBA, NCAA and MLB all cancelled but HSBB can go on with 150 people in the place??

High school sports are completely different. You can’t redshirt a high school kid. Unless they are advised to cancel events which to this point they haven’t then they shouldn’t.

Official statement from Indiana Governor Holcomb.  It does not mandate a cessation of the IHSAA state tournament but it does limit the number of attendees.  Also authorizes waivers for school districts regarding number of days shut down because of the virus.

This was sent out by an Ohio high school and I wonder if the same would apply to Indiana kids since the IHSAA has made it clear that they have POSTPONED not CANCELED seasons.

If you‘re a member of one of our Spring sports teams, DO NOT practice or workout with your AAU/Club/summer team for the same sport in the same season. Currently the OHSAA has delayed, not cancelled, the season; meaning that you’re still in season. Don’t risk your eligibility!

My daughter plays another club sport and even though this is their season they have been canceling events as well. It would seem a good idea to start club practice early if other sports are done but this is an interesting dilemma.

The following is from Nick Baumgart who readily acknowledges the scenario is highly unlikely but at least thought is being given to finishing the tournament if at all possible.

Hearing the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA) discussed revised schedule to complete IHSAA boy's basketball state tournament. Wld play last 2 Saturdays in April. IHSAA meets Thursday. Final decision might not come until early April.  That would be April 18 and 25. Teams would have 42 days off between Sectional final and Regional semifinal, which isn't ideal, but I doubt anyone would complain if that came to fruition.

You can play a travel.. just not a spring sport travel, or winter sport travel.

Like.. if basketball season had actually ended, then you could play travel basketball and run track.
