Class of '66 Old Fart

(2018) SF - Jerome Hunter to IU

Recommended Posts

Vic was putting up 5 shots per game whereas on .8 was from 3. Al puts up 4.2 shots per game whereas 1.9 is from 3. I think percentage wise they would be closer if Al had the self awareness Vic had as a Freshman. Vic knew he wasn’t a good shooter yet and was getting in the lane. IMO, Al should have the same gameplan of Vic of playing in the lane. We need shooters but we can’t force what isn’t there.

Durhams HS and AAU stats have always suggested he settles for 3s and hits a low percentage. Super likeable kid. Rooting for him but until he gets better, we'd be better suited with other options.

Durham is also playing more minutes, so it's not really a comparable sample.  Too lazy to adjust per 40.  Just answering a question.

Oh no doubt. Wasn’t trying to come off as dickish. Just saying he forces his shot when he is in the game and he would be better served to playing a similar role of what Vic was as a Freshman. Ball wasn’t in Vic’s hands. He was either cutting and catching the ball on a cut or getting boards. Al has to dribble or settle for 3s to get his. He is not strong enough yet at either to be doing that.

Edit: don’t want to be coming off as I am bashing him either. He is forced into a role JBJ should be in or another player if they were more consistent defensively.

I'd be a bigger fan if his shooting was better. He is smart. He takes the right shots. He doesn't force. He drives fairly well. I just have very little confidence in his shooting and so do the other teams.

I can’t wait to see Jerome in the candy stripes. Think he will be Archie’s first developed NBA player.

48 and 15 sounds like a good night.

Yep. Seems a few high school stars can pull a 48ish point game out every now and then, but coupled with 15 boards, impressive.
