I agree with that but that alone isn't going to keep Donovan. There has to be a supporting cast and they don't have it this year and will probably not be able to add another star player before Westbrook hits the open market. So why wouldn't Donovan get the best opportunity that comes his way when he knows the Thunder aren't going to be relevant for a few years.

How can you just assume that OKC won't be relevant? There's free agency, the trade deadline, the draft, etc..

Westbrook is gone after next year anyway, so that's hardly reason to stay with OKC.

If he wants to stay through a rebuild and feels good about that (which is certainly possible), he might want to stay at OKC. But given that he took over a title-contending team with Durant, Westbrook, ( (and a nice other piece with Serge Ibaka), and that likely all those guys will be gone soon, I can understand why he might want to leave...

Someone mentioned it earlier.. Any time there is an Alford rumor, it gets shot down and laughed at really quickly. However, the Donovan rumors are gospel until every angle has been analyzed and people realize those are just BS too.

Consider the sources shooting down the Alford rumors...

You don't seeing that happening regarding the Donovan rumors.  Just sayin'

You don't think coaching IU is a better job than coaching the 6th best team in the Western Conference? Forget who's on the team for a minute, actually don't, they're still in 6th place.

Yeah and last season they were in the Western Conference Finals. Things change in the NBA from season to season. One decent year and he's going to book it back to college? Meh.

And last season they had KD.

Hates coaching the guy who is on pace to average a triple-double, a feat that hasn't been done since Oscar Robertson?? Yeah I'm sure it's a miserable job.

Kind of like the story about Phil Jackson asking MJ, "who's open?"  I haven't watched OKC play a lot this year but when I have and I've seen some of the shots he takes? " Who's open Russ?" comes to mind. Dude is shooting low 40 %s overall and low 30s on threes.

And they won't be again for awhile.  Its how the NBA works.  It takes years for small market teams to rebuild

Yeah because the one reason he was in the WCF is gone. And the other guy that makes OKC somewhat good is gonna bolt as well

Baltimore, you say you're a realist that's fine. State your opinion, which you have, many many times. But why are you so insistent in arguing with everyone else about every little detail. Agree to disagree and be done with it.

It's a message board, Jeff.. That's kind of the point. State your opinion and have an open dialogue on the issues.. In this case I don't get why people are getting their hopes up with Donovan. Trying to understand it using some logic.

It's not a free agent destination. If it was they would have given Durant and Westbrook some help that would have helped them win a championship. Didn't happen. This years free agent class isn't great either. They don't really have moveable assets to make trades. They won't be drafting in the lottery so the pick they get could help but it's probably not going to be a star.

What's that say about Crean? If he's such a great coach, why didn't LSU jump at the chance to get him once Crean reached out?

Glass made the right choice.

I have a feeling the LSU decision was more about the $$$

Ever since talk of BD possibly being interested in the job, I've figured it wouldn't be or wasn't simply because he could get more money, but more a case of realizing he really enjoyed the college game more.  After getting a taste of the NBA, he may have come to the conclusion that college ball is more his cup of tea.  I hope that's the case and he comes to Bloomington.  Adding a couple of seasons of NBA experience to an already accomplished NCAA resume makes him the perfect hire.
