And then michigan came in and schooled the zone in the final four running mcgary at the ft line. That Syracuse game was such a coaching debacle. You are correct zeller never took a jump shot and now he has bryant running around on the three point line. Bizarre.

His 'preparation' for that game was a special level of horrendous, that team was so comically unprepared for the game.  It was so bad he'd have more of an excuse if he didn't do any preparation for it.

He's not an incompetent coach, but he sure looked like it that time.  The offense didn't do a thing to create an open look, just stood around and slowly reversed the ball; the only chance they had of getting a look was Syracuse getting lost on the way to the game.

Bill would have fit right in with the team a few years ago, if ya know what I mean. My only worry with Bill Walton as a coach is the sitting around in a circle singing kumbaya during timeouts. Other than that we should be good.

They might not play out of control then...

Have to be impressed with Mike Brey as well. Doesn't get the highest rated recruits but seems to get the "right" ones. His teams play well together. They had a total of 6 TO's tonight at Miami. 6!

I agree they play well. But much like the Greg Marshall argument he hasn't left there for a better opportunity. Why? I don't think he could recruit well enough here to make us happy.

I live in the Dayton area currently and know quite a few UD alums and fans. They have some serious fear that IU will come after Archie.

He is probably not in my A list but if we can get a Bills donuts as well then I am interested.

Pretty sure you have to work at it to be that unprepared.

South Bend is a hard sell. Place is a dump and men's bball is the third sport there. He's matured into a pretty good coach, I'd take him over Crean in a heartbeat. But he's still a bit down on my wish list.

Sadly that was my thought was well, it takes some sort of effort for preparation to be that much of an epic fail.

It was so bad we had two chances to win:  Syracuse gets lost on the way, or their players die laughing at our approach.

I think he stayed because the Koch (sp?) brothers stepped up and gave him a huge salary bump.  I think.

Let's go with the recruiting "star" rating for possible replacements.

5* - Stevens, Donovan
4* - Holtmann, Miller

Where would you put the others?

I would honestly place Holtmann as a low 5* based on potential. He is in that Zeller range, but with Vonleh's game. Boom or bust with a solid base.
