Exactly! There is a way to definitively shut it down, and that is by coming out and fully addressing it like he did last time where there was no guessing. They know what they are doing when vague statements are made and it is anything but shutting down the noise. Smokescreen work because those that are gullable enough to believe them are distracted. I'll stay focused on the fact that he did not deny it himself and that we heard a weak statement from Jeff Goodman. The self delusion is incredible.

Cronin is a high floor low ceiling in my opinion. Teams play super hard and he’s a great defensive mind, but that offense is stuck in the pre analytics era.

That statement won't shut anything down....it was weak if the intent was to shut it down. He literally said “I’m not a candidate”. I don’t know what more you can say than that.

A GM wants to “not be a distraction during all star weekend”?… so the real season would be a better time for it? Ludicrous. Brad had absolutely zero reason to put that statement out other than to shut this down early to avoid the onslaught of requests for comment.

It’s 100% BS. If you’re still buying this crap at this point, it’s on you. Several years and tens of millions into his tenure with Boston, Brad was still driving a Mazda. This isn’t a guy who can be bought, and it’s certainly not a guy who will make a decision based on 9.2M vs 10M.

You cannot dominate any level of basketball the way he did for as long as he did did without being basically a tactical savant, and people are overrating the “power 5” experience factor in the NIL age if you put in any effort at all as a staff. We have the money to buy great players. Heck, Woodson landed guys while playing golf with his buddies and didnt even know their names. McCollum will have good players. McCollum knows tactical side as well as anyone. McCollum would win big at IU.

They lost their six best players. It’s essentially an entirely different team. And he’s 61st in efficiency. At drake. A program with four tournament appearances in the last like 30 years.

Archie’s average at Dayton was like in the 50ish range of KenPom….which is kinda where Dayton usually is. He didn’t make them much different from their baseline. In retrospect, people overvalued him because of one tournament run. He just flat out wasn’t that good at Dayton. McCollum? This is a dude who absolutely dominated his level of basketball the likes of which is almost never seen at any level. And he’s doing incredibly well at Drake. The guy clearly just flat out knows ball. You can’t win this much for this long and not know your ****. And at IU, he doesn’t have to worry about recruiting in the NIL era. McCollum NEEDS to be the guy.

McCollum is the guy who’d get me the most amped. I’m probably in the minority on that, but if they go get him, check back with me in 2 years on how you feel about the hire.

To recap: I say multiple times that I’m not guessing about the fact that it won’t be Stevens. I call out the guys who were claiming to have sources about Stevens being a done deal. Stevens ends the speculation very early. I point out that they were obviously wrong. And I’m the bad guy. Got it.

Saying “I think it’ll be Stevens” and it not being Stevens is *wrong*. Saying Stevens is a done deal when it was never even remotely close to happening isn’t *wrong*, it’s lying. To a lot of people. Why defend that?
