That tweet looks like it was taken down, can anyone provide any sort of clue as to what people are alluding to here?

Rabjohns just said that no one close to the program would be surprised at Fife's firing. Rather, they'd be surprised if he wasn't fired.

Wait, am I allowed to say that now that it was taken down? I don't know the rules. I'm just some schmuck stuck in Michigan.

It smells because it’s turning into Fife’s a bad dude.  Maybe he is, I don’t know him. If it’s a not a fit issue it can usually be handled smoother.

Maybe he's not a bad dude, but maybe he screwed up. You've got multiple people in this thread referring to instances in the year where he went against Woodson's express orders. I don't know him either, but it seems like there's a lot of smoke. If that's the case, letting him go now is the way of having it be handled smoother. This is the time for coaching changes, it will get lost in the dozens of other schools making switches.

This firing is not going to torpedo Fife's career. If that could do it, Archie Miller would be unemployed today.

Yeah that means nothing.  Was it the recruiting offer to the Purdue kid or something else.  What the blank did he do?  And if it was so bad, why not unload him during the season.  The whole thing smells

What smells about it? If he didn't fit with Woodson, he's gone. They gave it a year, it didn't work. College programs make these changes all the time. There's a reason they call it a coaching carousel.

The internal politics don't really matter. Basketball is a business and this sort of thing happens in the business world all the time. Dane Fife was never, in my opinion, ever going to be the savior of the IU program. I'm shocked that so many people seem to be upset about this. It's just an organizational change. Nothing more. I don't care what Dakich, or anyone else, thinks about this decision. What matters is what CMW does going forward. He has more skin in this game than anyone else. Have a little faith. If CMW is wrong, he is the one who will suffer the consequences.

Exactly. It didn't work out, move on. People are acting like there was some multi-generational grand plan that's now dead and IU basketball has taken some huge hit. He'll be fine, he'll find another well-paying job. Another person will come in. Life will continue and I'm willing to put money down that IU is better next year than this.

I tried to post when things were at their darkest and was told I was locked out of my account. Don't know why, but it sure kept me from publically making a fool of myself.

    Edit: at least that time

  6. I don't know about everyone else, but I'm feeling really good right now. Road win, Woody clearly using this as a teaching game, X making this his team. Need the Rutgers game to feel good about the tournament but if we dropped this we'd be about done. Minnesota went nuts for a while, but IU did enough to hold them off.

Q2 win, beat the spread, above average game for the offense, below average turnovers, and a team that has not reached its ceiling. Bring on Rutgers.
