He was 6th in the Big Ten in offensive rebound rate last year and 10th in the Big Ten in block rate. His two-point FG% was 17th in the country last year.
IMO he was a bright spot on last year's team and can really raise this team's floor. Very good in his role IMO although I admit it's not always pretty. He was playing JV as a junior in high school, which helps make him easy to root for to me. 

Yup. Really good band and my older daughter loves them. Will be in Chicago next April as part of their American tour and I grabbed a pair of tickets for her for Christmas.

Based on very little, my thought is Sherrell is expected to declare. His replacement is Wabbington/Manhertz. Then we'd have Euros 3 deep at Center.  Not a bad plan. 

I’m not ready to get optimistic, but I’ll say I am not dreading bball season.

Doubt it’s genuine positivity from him.   I haven’t followed him since he had a local radio show but his move normally was pump them up before the season started and then trash them when they feel short of his inflated expectations of them.   It was like clockwork.  I’m sure he is doing the same thing nowadays as well 

This is just an observation, I am not saying Sokolov will be an all american.  However, in the limited action he was in the game last night, he has some potential.  He is not a stiff and is a very big young man.  Hope he does well at IU.

My thoughts: we look huge. Balanced scoring. Samet is GIANT, if you don’t bring help over to him he’ll do his baby hook over you, it’s almost automatic. He’s really good at getting deep and setting himself up for success. His gravity got shooters open. 
 
Sam Alexis looks faster and moved his feet really well. 
 
Sherrell looked a little rushed but his effort was there and made him shine. 
 
Manhertz looks like he did fill out more from May to now. His length was really disruptive. 
 
Lindsay and Burton are great and both provide in different ways.
Rebounding will be a major positive for us. 

I'll kind of mimic some thoughts of what I saw last night being live:
Burton is definitely our floor leader. It seemed like we took too long for our post offense to start. However, rebounding looked much better compared to last and Yigi showed a nice little jump hook that will be hard to stop. Sherrell I thought forced a lot.  I can see things open up for him as we continue to hit outside shots. I'm glad we have Sam back.  He gave us really good bench minutes. I am hoping Sisley will give us Colin Hartman minutes this year....still hoping though. Manhertz will be the surprise freshman this year.  He looked really comfortable and smooth.  He's not timid. Harris and Mustaf gave good stability throughout the game and hit really timely shots. If defense and passing can firm up, we'll have some fun games to watch this year. Butler is bad.  Bottom Big East dweller. There was at a point a glimmer of hope when Butler cut it to one in the 2nd half but IU was too deep.  Talent took over and buried them (which they should of). Good exhibition run. Interested for the UNC matchup.

Next one is on B1G+ against UNC? My efforts to balance work and IUBB mean i might have to rebuy into B1G network again. Just lurking the comments I like what i see from tonight. 

He looked really good and pulled down 8 boards. 
He just needs to do some squats and calf raises. lol.

DDV said in the post game that Manhertz knows every play, can tell guys where to go, he knows where to go and can play 1-4 so there's complete trust there, he makes good decisions with the ball and has great length to use on the defensive end.

Butler isnt projected to be very good but they are atleast a team with a pulse unlike in South America. They did play extremely hard and it didnt feel like an exhibition. 
Overall, very solid performance. This team COULD be very good if they put in the work. 
The athleticism, speed, strength and size look night and day from last year.

Guy doesn’t know what he’s talking about. I was there, left with about 5 minutes left and just got home. I won’t lie and say Hinkle was at full capacity, but you’d really have to try hard to find an empty seat at the start of the game. Butler had a full student section and a loud crowd and were really into it while it was still a game. There was also noticeable red from the IU contingency. Definitely didn’t have an exhibition feel.
As far as the game goes, I have a few takeaways.
-Noticeably a bigger and more athletic team even with a bar set so low from last year
-big talent upgrade in the backcourt 
-bench may actually be an asset this year
-Sherrell seemed bothered playing with another big 
-Manhertz is going to be awfully tough to keep off the court, physicality might be the only thing holding him back
-if I must nitpick, the persistent fouling in the 1H brought back bad memories from last year and some of the heat check 3’s I could do without.
Hard to take that much away from an early October exhibition but there is a lot to like and a lot to look forward too.

In the little time he played, Sokolov does look he can indeed walk and chew gum.  Seriously, he didn't look as raw as advertised.

Thought on balance, once you could actually see the game in long stretches, that was an almost perfect result for what DDV would want from that. Got a win and hammered a team they should hammer. Had some stretches of really encouraging play to build on. Had plenty of moments they can coach from. Nobody got nicked. Giving it an A-. The glaring thing, imo, that they need to get figured out is the Samet/ Sherrell combo isn’t the most natural fit offensively and there were stretches where Sherrell didn’t really know what to do with himself. But it doesn’t look like a straight up misfit. They’ll find it or they’ll sub away from it.
On the other side, Butler is gonna have a long, long year. 

It felt like Indiana could have pulled away a couple of times, just as an observer, Indiana has a solid edge in talent. Would not be surprised to see IU pull away in the second half.

Yeah it’s also just an exhibition where staff is going to try stuff and the score end of day is meaningless— remember our big exhibition w last year, signaled nothing. I’m more interested how guys are playing individually, with whom, whose shot looks good, Burton’s decision making, etc
