Scott is definitely fighting the good fight, but the headwinds have been substantial. I think he will get this right in the long run personally. He knows what needs to happen.

MR, MM, KW moving on/entering the portal moves the needle probably. Combined with an early exit by Auburn it gets more interesting.

Appreciate the intent, but that name getting out would lose me my sources pretty quickly.

Put a team together that looks like it has a reasonable chance to compete next year. If we straight up strike out in the portal, with the resources we have, I think it will be seen as an indictment on Woody and players wanting to play for him and in his system.

First thing's first, congrats to the IU women on the 4-seed and hosting opportunity. Tough draw, but they call it madness for a reason. Secondly, love you guys and this community, but goodness you're not shy about using the private message feature. Sorry for ghosting many of you but easier to just post publicly. And, now that I've effectively buried the lead, Woodson is back next year with a couple caveats and interesting details: - Meeting Tuesday happened as scheduled and talk was future of the basketball program and specifically how Woody fits in that plan - Though Dolson and BoT disagree about it happening now, consensus was that this isn't the bridge hire they'd hoped for and this is his last year barring some miracle B1G championship or FF run next year that would make for bad optics. - Woodson was given the opportunity to retire and go out amicably but said no and that he thinks he can use the portal to put us in a better position to transition to another coach after next year. - Dolson laid out expectations for portal results and win/loss results next season that would result in letting Woody go; just my opinion but it sounds like Buckner, boosters, etc. got him the 4th year but Scotty Dolson has his finger on the eject button and Woodson knows it. Fully expect him to announce a "planned retirement" next year so he can go out on his "own terms" - For what it's worth, Dolson did put out feelers and got positive feedback on interest from 2 of his top 3 potential replacement candidates; think we can get May with a text message, Pearl has serious interest but wouldn't make a move if his team makes a FF run or wins a natty. - I think we as a fanbase/board are higher on Dusty than the administration/BoT; sounds like they're only interested in a homerun hire, win now guy if they do move and risking a third straight miss isn't something they're willing to do and just because he has IU ties and made a good tourney run, feeling is May isn't a guarantee at this level. That's what I've got that I'm able to share comfortably right now. Not what myself or anybody on this board probably wants to hear. Moral is one more year is 95% likely (everyone root for UCONN in the S16, and a miracle!) It's kind of messy internally and they're trying to move on to get IU back to a top tier program while letting Woodson ride into the sunset having left the program in a good place and "stepping aside" for the good of the program. ??

Promise to get everyone the update I committed to last weekend in the next day or two. Wanted to let things shake out from the meeting Tuesday and see how the tourney games went.

Okay you degenerate information junkies, I can break the news that there’s no new news coming out tonight. So if you’re on here, get yourself over to BTN and check out the women’s B1G tourney game. Dolson won’t be hosting a 10pm press conference I can confirm. And honestly, the women play a really great brand of basketball. If you haven’t, give them a look.

Think Mack is gonna give it a go tonight. Hopefully limit the minutes based on score of the game.

Not that it happens that we know of, but there are a couple of girls on Nebraska’s team I wouldn’t mind if Syd messaged on social media this summer to get in their ear about replacing Scalia for next year. Something like “how would you like to play in front of 10k fans every game, make some good NIL money and slide right into a starting lineup ready to challenge for championships while possibly being a first team all-conference sharp shooter like what we just did with Scalia?” Not saying, but just saying.

The path to a B1G tournament championship just got 50% easier for the Hoosiers. Beating Iowa and O$U back to back on the third game in three days was always gonna be a tough task. Get by Iowa and stay healthy and I like our chances right now.

Yeahhhhh, appreciate the intent, but specifics that get back to sources are how you lose sources. Can’t really go there my friend. I’ll say this, it’s a specially called meeting, not a standing appointment, and the big boys/girls will be at the table for this one. Is that fair?

I suppose it’s about time for me to get involved. Chris and Kathy have carried a lot of weight based on my skimming of the last 30 pages. :) Kathy, welcome, PM me if you’re interested in comparing sources and info privately. Couple nuggets: 1) We (as a board) are a little out in front of this one, things are happening, but aren’t as developed as the tea leaves trying to be read. 2) There’s a meeting happening next Tuesday that will likely via leaks/smoke shed some light on the administration’s focus. 3) Yes, the admins all have aides/hands that can get stuff out to support their efforts, but keep in mind some of the reporters and writer’s are just trying to be first to scoop the story and know they can always walk it back as “things changed” when they’re wrong. Currently this is happening, as they’re ahead of any real story or discussions. 4) Worth noting that Buckner was a strong supporter of Chris Reynolds for the AD spot. Take that for what you will. 5) Don’t be surprised if Pearl is the Brad Stevens of this cycle should we get to that point. That’s all for now. So glad the women’s team saved me from having to watch more of the men’s team today with their start time. Finally some good basketball.

I think tonight was a concerted effort by the staff to get a win, but also get the young players quality minutes and the starters more rest as we get to the home stretch.

A lot of memorable moments in a great win, but my favorite might be Syd hitting the back to back threes and yelling “I’m back babyyyy.” We’re gonna need her as a scoring option if we want to make a deep run.
