2024 NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament

Iowa by 1 with 9.3 seconds to play. UConn ball. They've had so much trouble scoring, though. -

This is a close -- and I suppose -- somewhat exciting game. But man, it's sloppy. UConn can't hit the broad side of a barn. Iowa playing pretty good D, but UConn is missing a lot of open shots. Clark started to click a little. Bueckers hasn't given UConn a whole lot. -

Geno totally taking Clark and Iowa out of their game. Muhl is sticking with Clark like glue. She almost doesn't know what to do. -

Boy, I think the Trees panicked a little there. That's too bad -- fun team to watch.

NCAA MBB Coaching Carousel

Musselman to Southern Cal, per many reports. Here's one ... https://x.com/MattNorlander/status/1775960128694767910 -
Just saw a comical tweet from the B1G -- bragging about being the only conference to send teams to the men's and women's basketball Final Four and the men's and women's Frozen Four (Final Four for hockey). But we're the only conference that actually can do so. Most schools that play Division I hockey are in different conferences for other sports. For instance, Connecticut and Providence skate in Hockey East, but play most other sports in the Big East. Most Ivy league schools that play hockey do so in the ECAC. And many schools that play Division I hockey play Division II basketball.

Fire Coach Woodson + Assessment of Former Posters

Geez -- this makes me depressed. LOL! I can't say I've read all your posts, but I don't rememeber you ever taking Dolson to task in such a harsh way. -

I know Woody placed a premium on the portal this offseason. I've been really impressed so far with his haul ... -

Not sure how much interest there is (other than from me, who lives in Virginia) ... Megan Duffy leaving Marquette for Virginia Tech. She was 110-46 in Milwaukee -- pretty impressive mark. She replaces Kenny Brooks, who left Blacksburg for Kentucky. That's the second hoops coach Tech has poached from Marquette (first was Buzz Williams). We've taken one hoops coach from Indiana State. Maybe we should go get another!!! -
I get a kick out of watching Robbie Avila play basketball. Not the best athlete, but he’s very smart and fundamentally sound.

If Muss does end up at Southern Cal, I wonder if there's any chance the Hogs would give the keys to his top assistant? He's someone with whom we're very familiar ... Or would they insist on an outside hire? -

Paige Bueckers vs. Caitlin Clark -- should be interesting. -
Tonight, Caitlin Clark said that at the start of the season, a lot of people counted Iowa out because of the players they graduated. Iowa was No. 3 in the preseason. Yesterday, Lerch talked about all the doubters who passed him over. He didn't start playing basketball till he was a sophomore in high school. Didn't even like the sport initially. Preferred baseball and hockey. Doubters. Haters. People counting us out. Nobody gave us a chance. JFC, PEOPLE -- LET'S GET SOME NEW MATERIAL!!!

Looks like we'll have another week of C****** C****. Too much firepower for LSU. Reese being gimpy didn't help. -

Clark starting to take over. LSU hasn't been the same since Reese got hurt. She's still playing, but you can tell she isn't 100%. -

I know Clark is in love with the 30-foot jumper, but she should just keep driving. LSU can't contain her. -

I'm thinking four -- maybe five For 2024-25 1. Sydney Parrish -- 5th year 2. Chloe Moore-McNeil -- 5th year 3, Lexus Bargesser -- junior 4. Henna Sandvik -- junior 5. Lilly Meister -- junior 6. Yarden Garzon -- junior 7. Sharnecce Currie-Jelks -- junior 8. Lenee Beaumont -- sophomore 9. Juliana LaMendola -- sophomore 10. Sydney Fenn -- freshman 11. Faith Wiseman -- freshman Not sure about Currie-Jelks' status. She played in three games last season after coming in as a UT-Martin transfer, but sat out the rest because of "personal issues." So, we technically have four. But if SCJ doesn't return -- that would give us five. EDIT: Adjusted -- as @TTT noted, women are allowed 15 schollys. I had forgotten. Dang, we played this past season with three open. -

Tennessee fires Kellie Harper -- one of their own. Was 108-52 in five years (almost 22 wins a season) at Knoxville, which isn't bad. Went to the Sweet 16 twice. Seems as if the Lady Vols are a bit like our men's program -- forever searching for Pat Summitt's replacement, like us with RMK. First up was Summitt's top assistant. No. 2 in line was Harper, the former star player who was supposed to return the program to greatness. Wonder if they'll go "outside the family" this next time? Probably not. Early indications are they'll target Kara Lawson of Duke -- a former Lady Vols' star. BTW, Harper's winning percentage at Tennessee (.675) was better than at any of her previous three stops (Western Carolina, N.C. State, Missouri State) -
Burns having fun, taking selfies under the stands after the NC State game. Contrast that with his next foe, who drops an f-bomb on national TV, plays the overly cliched "doubters" card and calls out Rick Barnes for not recruiting him. https://x.com/MarchMadnessMBB/status/1774593524937224613?s=20

If Harry Caray were alive, he'd say -- "THEY'RE DANCING ON THE STREETS IN RALEIGH, NORTH CAROLINA." Two teams in the Final Four. Impressive.
