Same guy that told me Sampson was fired and told me the exact buyout amount 2-3 days before anyone knew anything told me.  He doesn’t talk much but when he does, I’m all ears!

I wasn’t going to tell everyone but screw it, if it’s wrong it’s wrong.  The search is over!! Brad will be the next coach.  Same guy that told me the Sampson buyout sent me a text and said Brad is HOME! LFG!!!

I think this is also why we haven’t had anyone but Al enter the transfer portal. 

Have you heard anything about Coach Roberts making any calls to a recruit? Feeling comfortable about saying who he thinks will be the new coach. Heard something that makes me smile.

Brad Stevens:
1.  Pay $10 million to buyout Archie's contract  Check.
2.  Coach subpar with the Celtics, who suddenly don't mind you leaving.  Check.
3.  Get a $70 million pay day from IU.  Check.
Brad Stevens is four steps ahead of everyone.  He's like Chuck Norris and Keanu Reeves got together and had a baby...made of gold.

I agree, my HSN friend, spot on. Any way we look at it Dolson’s not gonna settle for anything less than a big name....It may or may or may not be Brad, (I pray it is) but it will be someone very successful! Dolson and Co. are not wasting 10+ million on a buyout and millions more for an unproven mediocre coach.  

Me following these threads around the Archie hire is legit one of the final straws that ended my engagement 4 years ago. Thankfully this time around I filed for divorce a month early, so no one yelling at me today haha

I enjoy reading your thoughts on the other site and am glad to see you here. It's really not a competition since we are all supporters of IU basketball. As far as I'm concerned, we are all family.

Update from my original comments - strictly based on what I know and things I’ve heard: 
The VP of “Charitable Giving” at Cook, who regularly works with Carl Cook and Steve Ferguson on how money should be spent and what organizations they should give to, etc. is close friends with Dolson, and has close ties to my family. This is why we think Dolson’s specifically used the wording “private philanthropic funding”. Carl wanted to use this as a major tax write off and this statement was maybe his way to ensure that he could.  

I think Dolson has been keeping the Cook family backing in his back pocket for the day he became athletic director. As soon as he took the helm - he knew he was going to change things and he knew who he was going to to do it.
I think this can be reaffirmed by his ability to move money around so quickly. A lot of trust in him in the Cook community. 
Dolson is very much like a lot of [old] IU fans, and he wanted better so (it is rumored) he started making feeler calls as soon as he became athletic director (before this season), and actually fired Archie last Thursday after they lost in the tournament.
The team had no idea, Archie was supposed to keep quiet, and it actually leaked from Archie’s side that he was fired  - I think he may lose money because of it. Therefore, they would have waited to X point in time to make the announcement rather than have all the cofuffle this week.  
Maybe the big name that Scott went for (to get that kinda money from Carl Cook) wasn’t Brad. But I feel like it would still have to be a big name who put out a higher level of commitment than a “maybe” when Scott went to get money. Otherwise, what was the point in firing Archie and raising the money to do it?
I mean if you’re a true [old] iu guy like Scott, you know there’s only 1 person you have to go get to make the entire fan base happy, so why not have a plan in place to get the guy a year in advance? And like it’s rumored,  he clearly did have a plan! 
 
I could be entirely wrong about this, but this is all my best guess based on what I know so far.

I think we know there in a lot of interest from what we’ve heard. Scott is not firing Archie without a replacement. Trouble in Boston? Family back Indiana, pay raise, huge offer, everyone loves you right away. Dolson has used former players like Isiah to talk to Brad. I feel good about this. Dolson is probably having a nice scotch tonight. Cheers Hoosiers!!

We always thought it would take one great coach to bring IU basketball back to its rightful place, but in fact, now I realize it takes one great AD with a clear, ambitious vision and deep understanding what Indiana was, is, and should be all about. We needed an AD who doesn't back down to any naysayers.
