Pretty crazy how some had Illinois as a “lock” for the NCAA tournament just a couple months ago. Never understood what they saw.

I shared this link in the book thread on here, but though I would repost in this thread to reach a wider audience of College Basketball fans.
In January, a book on the plane crash where the Evansville Team was killed in 1977 is being published. It looks interesting
Check out this book on Goodreads: We Will Rise: A True Story of Tragedy and Resurrection in the American Heartland http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/44281311-we-will-rise

Only one book I’ve ever read more than once, and I’ve read it like five times. The Hobbit. We usually read this book in about 4th or 5th grade for the first time, but I must say it’s entertaining even as a 46 year old.

I just finished “Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil”. My sister says I’m a book snob because I generally only read nonfiction (yes I realize my previous post cites “The Hobbit”). Anyway when home for Thanksgiving this book was laying on the table and my niece asked my sister whose it was. She said “Well, we know it’s not Uncle Jay’s because he only reads nonfiction”. It is a nonfiction book but is really entertaining throughout so most think it’s a novel. I think it was made into a movie a few years back but I never watched it.

Lets pause on that. He clearly can coach which was a question but lets see how he does with his own players and not Beilein's. Remember Mike Davis did great with Knight's players. Greg Gard did terrific with Bo Ryan's players for a bit and now is starting to tail off.
I am not saying Howard is not a great coach and he could be but you won't really know until he gets his own players in there.

Kind of silly comparison.
Simpson > RoJo at pg
RoJo > Simpson at sg
Morgan > Teske at pf
Teske > Morgan at c
You’d have to look at the positions for comparison.
Simpson >>>> Newkirk
Teske >>>> McSwain/Davis

Returning role players from a team that lost in the first round of the NIT to Georgia Tech. Lol just a little different then having returning players that played in the championship game and from B1G tourney championship teams

It’s the difference between a coach inheriting Jon Teske at center and Simpson at point versus inheriting McSwain at center and Newkirk at point.
And Archie went 9-9 in conference with his first team.

I was thinking this this afternoon. Wasn't this the one that was played in a hotel ballroom when it started?

Were those guys immediate impact top 50 players or did they take a couple years to develop?
Talent comes in many forms.

national title teams also have non top 50 talent on their roster as well that step up and contribute for those national title teams. Louisville didn’t win it’s fake national title because Wayne Blackshear was a top 30 player they won because luke Hancock a George Mason transfer got hot and won MOP of the final 4, Russ Smith a recruit in the 300’s dominated, Montrez Harrell, Siva both non top 50 player were solid. Luke Maye a former walk-on that was ranked outside the top 100 sent home a roster full of top 50 players on North Carolina’s national title run. Talent comes in many forms
