100% of the field can qualify for the field at the beginning of the season. Win games. 

I think in the long run we will love it. 16 seemed like the magic number but I think this will grow into being awesome. 

Playoff mode hits during the regular season not only for the players but for the fanbase as well. It gets pretty intense. 

True and fair. There are definitely legitimate gripes with how it's being implemented, I'm just not fundamentally opposed to a 24 team format. Definitely not pleased with the ESPN involvement personally. 

I don't have familiarity with FCS, but I think the logic sort of tracks. Nobody cares about bowl games anymore. If you're 9-3 or 8-4 and ranked in the 17-25 range today you're probably, as a player, mentally checking out a bit or weighing if it's worth it to play games when you may already be dinged up and the season is basically a lost cause as you look ahead to the NFL or transfer portal. This could give them more of an incentive to compete all the way down to the wire. 

More to come. So far, I'm not liking it. It'll be modified in years to come. Personally, I'd just replicate the FCS system and be done with it. 
 

I beg to differ. There's going to be a lot more meaningful games during the regular season with so much more on the line now. 

If any of y'all ever experienced FCS at a personal level, you completely understand what I'm saying here. 

Generally indifferent about the size of the playoff, though the FCS version is extremely fun with similar/maybe less parity than FBS. Illinois State just made a "cinderella" run last season that ended in an epic FCS title game. You could also argue that while it cheapens the regular season for the elites, it also gives a LOT of teams something to play for in November.
I'm firmly in wait and see mode on it. I am excited for more on-campus playoff games. I think that was the absolute best thing about expansion to 12.

How often will IUFB miss a 24 team playoff with Cig here and hopefully Haines after him?
Tend to think most will poopoo the idea until there's an electric upset or two that gets people excited about playoff football. 

I'm assuming the deal addresses that. FOX, CBS, and NBC are the networks that probably agreed because Disney has a stake with all the other networks. If I had to guess, and don't fully agree with, the playoff will be exclusive to ESPN.

I'm wondering what this means for the Army-Navy game. 

We would have been co-champs in a 24 Team Playoff. So that means we claim it and put it on the banner. But yes, that game was awesome. Still doesn't outweigh hoisting the National Championship trophy and finishing 16-0. Man, last year was so special. I'm still riding a high from it.

Doesn't change that they still lose in the playoff and don't win the Natty. They most likely play the winner between JMU at Bama. 

IUFB is the #2 Seed, gets a 1st round bye and plays a home game in the second round. Most likely plays the winner of Iowa at Miami.

Those saying it'll be diluted, there are 138 FBS teams that qualify.  That's 17.4% of the field. For reference, a 76 team NCAA tournament is roughly 21% of the field. 40% of the field qualifies for MLB, 43% of the field qualifies for NFL, 50% of the field qualifies for NHL. 
Those saying the season will be meaningless, ask any player that grew up playing high school sports in the state of Indiana that thought their season was meaningless. You'll only find fractions of a fraction that will tell you it was. Competitive sport is what it is. 

I'll say it again, once we experience a 24 team playoff all the fans will wonder why this hasn't been implemented sooner than later. 

It'll be interesting to see how they qualify the teams. I'd personally like to see them adopt the FCS system. 

That first time diving/jumping off the high board is scary…until you do it and survive…and realize it’s really fun.  People fear change and the unknown as we all know.

Correlation does not equal causation. In the realm of sport, where NKE has a connection with athletes and consumers, football and basketball are all showing growth and NKE is one of the leading products and innovators in the industry. And I don't see them going away anytime soon. 

NKE wants their logo on the jersey during the College Football National Championship, not their competitors. They will choose wisely. Last week, they just made a $200M+ deal with one of the jersey's in last year's CFP Championship game. Which is my point. 

Sidenote: I could care less what deal IU has with who and how much so on and so forth. I do know capitalism tends to work itself out when it comes to these kind of deals.

I'm more concerned about the LB room. I'm not too concerned about the DL room. There's a ton there and there are a couple of true freshman already getting valuable reps.

The D overall and OL will lose a ton of experience it'll be interesting to see what happens in the transfer portal. I'm confident holes will be filled with talented players and who knows, might even be upgrades!

Big Ten should expel Rutgers and add JMU.  (only partially kidding)
