What do you think the media did this time?
Sources ranging from HuffPost to Fox said is was over 500 cases in addition to the 310. “Fake News” seems to be a pavlovian response when people don’t like what they read/hear.

I got some stats from our school district as we have been in session now 10 days

Total number of students and staff = 6,400
    7 confirmed cases
    Student attendance rate 96%
    Total quarantined 2%
    10 days of school.

    So a good start

If the tests results all came back negative they would be good data and totally trustworthy.  They were positive so total fake news and simply party of an international conspiracy

    Wow.
His offers were off the charts good.
    When is signing day?
With football recruits I’m always nervous until they are signed (even though guys flipping hasn’t been an issue for IU for a while).

IMO, this was Scott Frost puffing his chest out as Nebraska football fans were not happy after with his underwhelming performance in his first two seasons there (9-15).  Expectations were high starting last year.......hard to fathom after the season they had, but they were voted in the media poll as the favorite to win the Big Ten West and started the year ranked number 24.  They were even 4-2 after six games and had a very manageable schedule left (Minnesota, Indiana, Purdue, Wisconsin, Maryland, and Iowa) but only won one game.

And now for something a little off-topic and completely different:
In what may likely have been the single most extraordinary night in Bloomington, Indiana rock/pop music history, on September 17, 1987 the Bluebird booked “The Ragin’ Texans.” About 100 people showed up.
What that (initially) small crowd got instead, was a show by —in his prime—John Mellencamp. Sucking on a Marlboro, with Aronoff on drums, Germano on fiddle, Wanchic, Crane and Meyers on guitar/bass; inspired. It got so loud that you can see Mellencamp having to cover his ears between songs.
But there’s way more. This was right before Farm Aid, and at the 16:00 mark John is joined onstage by one of the absolute few truly influential American musical legends. The King of the Lower East Side, LOU REED comes up for the rest of the set; “New Sensation”, the Velvet Underground milestone “Sweet Jane,” “Walk on the Wild Side”, and “I Love You Suzanne” is among what follows, with Mellencamp as a blissed out backup singer.
    Enjoy:

    I agree.
Japan, as an admittedly cherry picked example, has an older population than we do, has national health care for everyone but yet spends less than 1/2 per capita on healthcare than the US. A major difference....our obesity rate is 36% while theirs is 4% which means we have many more type 2 diabetes, knee replacements, high blood pressure, disabilities, etc etc and more people susceptible to severe reactions to viruses such as Covid.

And to a larger point not trying to demean fat and obese people, but the fact that America has so many heavier people (whether playing football or not) and we consider them 'normal and in perfect health" is one of the reasons the death rate is high here compared to other countries where people are thinner overall.
There are many other reasons as well for the high virus death rate in US (awful government response for one), but the fact that we consider heavier people to be in 'good health' shows how much we have accepted obesity as a normal part of society even though it is not a particularly good thing for the body.

Seems to me the system worked there. They settled the lawsuit which means the kid will almost certainly not be worrying about college money. They acted irresponsibly and there was a penalty.  The media is never going to be perfect. The important thing is for there to be a mechanism to punish irresponsible behavior.

CNNs rating are up over the last year so not sure how they have tanked btw.  I’m a little surprised by that since their audience skews younger I would have thought cord cutting would have hit them.

I saw a 2017 attendance list for all NCAA schools and Stetson averaged 866 fans per home game that year.
I also saw a 2019-2020 attendance list, that did not look as “official”, that showed they drew a season total of 8,029 home fans with attendance at games ranging between 15-535.
I would think it would be a bit of a letdown to play in front of such small crowds but he knows what he is signing up for.Good luck to the kid. Must have really liked the coaching staff, or style and/or just saw a good fit for himself.
Have to give him props for having more Btown  Banners recruiting pages of posts (74) than Aminu, Wesley, Miller, Duncomb and Kaufman combined!! LOL.

It's sad/funny that I had this idea 11 days before the president did. Funny how the pressure of losing voters can cause someone to so drastically alter their opinion.

What I am saying is that if we had some positive tests but things were generally getting better they probably wouldn’t have shut it down.  But with things getting worse and positive tests there’s really no choice.

The people making those recommendations know what they're talking about, it's kind of their job.  I don't get it.
Canada must feel like they live in the apartment above a meth lab.  Maybe that's the plan, make the virus feel this country is so hopelessly screwed that it doesn't need to help and just leaves.

I believe what he’s trying to communicate is that there is no way to completely eliminate any chance of transmitting or contracting COVID, but trained medical professionals have consistently recommended certain  practices that greatly reduce transmission and contraction.
The poster you’re arguing with is simply expressing that he’s trying his best to reduce, not eliminate the chance of transmission or contraction; he’s trying to be responsible.
How anyone can argue with or nitpick at that is beyond me.

I’m in the “let’s be cautious camp”, and doubt games, if they take place, will be played in front of a meaningful number of fans but......if we do proceed with conference games why not allow non-conference games that involve a bus trip and do not require a hotel stay? Why is it theoretically “safe” to play Ohio State but unwise to play nearby Ball State?  I understand not wanting a team to pile on a plane for a 5 hour flight to the West Coast, with maybe 2 nights of hotels, but a short drive to Muncie?
In any case I think there is at best a 50-50 chance that games will be played at all.

    Brumdog is accurate..
Initially 75% of the posters were commenting Archie would at least make the tourney his first year while most of the rest said it would take the second. On the day he was hired you would have been ridiculed if you predicted “three years from now Archie will get us to 9-11, and tied for 10th, in the Big Ten”. Since year one the goal posts have been moved.
Things have progressed more slowly than many hoped/predicted but fortunately that is now past history and the state of the program (and the roster) definitely seems to be on the upswing and I think this upcoming year will be very good.
