Not doubting you, or defending Woody, but am curious as to how Woodys ego led to the PSU losses. They were definitely bad/terrible losses but was his ego different vs PSU as opposed to the game we just won against MSU?

But the IU students show up more than other schools. Why is that a negative? I thinks it’s great that 8,000 are students.

HORRENDOUS guys like Stephenson at ATT, Ebbers, Ballmer, Lay etc etc lasted for years. I’ve been around long-term CEO’s of small and mid cap companies, that are not well known, that were absolutely horrible and made decisions that drove the companies into the dirt. The corporate world is not always an efficient machine.

I’m guessing I am in the minority here but I completely agree with the above statement from Kathy. In my opinion she has provided a number of interesting tidbits but many have blasted her as if she is defending the current status quo when in fact she has been describing what is going on as opposed to saying the current situation is acceptable.

With respect…..I have been around multiple corporate decision makers that do everything humanly possible to try to be sure the buck doesn’t stop with them. They make excuses, blame the market or underlings and then, when they are unsuccessful blaming others, they walk away with settlements that make Tom Allen’s look like chump change.

There is plenty to complain about this season but I have found it very amusing to read all the crybaby posts because people are butt hurt due to being called out as “not true fans”. Many of the same posters have been calling the coach and players a variety of names all season while saying those players and coach should sack up and take criticism. The double standard is very funny.

Absolutely. I’ll admit to being “suckered” by Woody’s comments as I fell for his statements that he was running an offense he didn’t like because of having TJD. I was looking forward to seeing “his offense” this year, which obviously didn’t happen, and within the first third of the season I was concerned McNeely was watching games and thinking his role would be to stand in a corner and throw bounce passes into the post. Not surprised at all that he de-committed . Ironically the offense has looked a bit different/better the past couple of games but it’s too little too late.

That is an interesting comment and I am sure I speak for many when I say “let us know what you got”.

Man I really hope Coach Cig comes through because he is already on a really high pedestal. I know it’s off topic, for the Woody/administration sucks thread, but looking forward to seeing if the Marlboro Man lives up to the hype (I think/hope he will).

So I am correct to assume that Woody and Moren won’t be breaking out a bottle of red together soon?

I put the over/under for this thread, by the end of next season, at 2,250 pages. I will inexplicably read nearly all 2,000+ pages even though at least 97% of those 2,000 pages will just be the same 4-5 themes posted over and over and over and over.

Yes, Archie was indeed highly thought of nationally. At the time Archie, Mack and Holtman were considered the three hottest young coaches in the country. Kind of crazy how it turned out.

A single bucket can make a difference. Florida Atlantic made it to the Final Four last year by beating Memphis in the first game by a point. Would Dustymania be so high if Florida Atlantic had lost that first round game by a point rather than making it to the FF?

Pearl has been successful in his career but some posters think we can get him in his 60’s. I’m not concerned about getting Dusty when he is 52’sh. Dusty is young, will still be young in 5-7 years and I think we could still get him at that point even if he was very successful at another P5 job. IU grad that will presumably/hopefully still want to come to IU even if he turns around a place like Missouri, as an example.

I agree JG would have been on the bench for IU. He wouldn’t have played a ton but would have played more minutes than Banks and Sparks. They have started JG almost all year. Is that a positive for MD? In the 12 games prior to the IU game, as a starter for MD, he scored 4 or less points in 8/12 of the preceding games ( zero points in three of them and two points in four of them) and for the year is shooting 43%, 16% from the three, 4 boards a game with twice as many turnovers as assists. He seems like a good guy/teammate but would not have added much of anything to IU if he had stuck around.

I agree. Even though the “W” sent more than a few fans down a drain of depression I enjoyed the second half and am glad the guys fought so hard to come back and get the win. We have even bigger issues with our administration than we think if a single road win changes the overall direction they want to go with the program. I would hope that a single game doesn’t change the direction they were heading wether that direction was to fire Woody or keep him.

I would have lost one bet today. When X caught the elbow to the throat, and the ref’s decided to not call a flagrant, I would have bet $1,000,000 that X would retaliate with some sort of stupid chippy foul. He surprisingly kept his cool.

I don’t like running down the clock so early in the game. We had it going but then had a few bad possessions in the row after dribbling down the clock.
